It's been a week now....

Recommended Posts

...since Rick Perry hosted his huge prayer day or whatever-the-hell-it-was-called in Texas.

Anyone notice a huge drop in unemployment, or a massive reduction in the deficit? Have the country's morals changed? did ANYTHING change?

nothing fails like prayer......maybe now we could ask our elected representatives to roll up their sleeves and fucking well get back to work.....

did ANYTHING change?

Well, Texas A&M is courting the SEC to get out from the burning hulk of a former conference that the Big 12 is turning out to be. The SEC didn't make a formal offer, but are waiting for TAMU to SECede from the Big 12 first...

That's sort of a big change.B|

Sure and Baylor has started fielding decent teams as late, but now that Texas entered the HUGE tv deal with ESPN for the "Longhorn Network," people want out. Texas seems to think they can run the Big 12, but that sort of arrogance is one of the reasons why the Big 12 is quickly dissolving. I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas try to be an independent.

Last week I installed a garage door opener, and it's working perfectly. Maybe that's where all the prayers went to.

Not sure if there's any left over for fixing the economy and morals and shit.

Sorry everyone.:P

The SEC has decided no thanks to Texas A&M for inclusion to the conference. I think the main reason is, they would need to find another team to join also, and they are not interested in stealing teams from other leagues. A&M did approach the SEC though. They're sick and tired of the Longhorn's arrogant bullshit.

I think A&M is gonna open up a can of whoop-ass on the Longhorns again this November! I'll be rooting for the Aggies! Gig 'em!

When the rumors started about the SEC expanding to 14, hell even 16 teams, the schools named could have fit in pretty good and given established SEC schools natural geographic rivals:

Clemson Tigers - South Carolina Gamecocks
Florida State Seminoles - Florida Gators

These two rivalries already play their games at the end of the season, just like Alabama and Auburn do.

Missouri and Arkansas are border states

Ditto for Texas and Louisiana - Texas A&M and LSU

Clemson and FSU would join the SEC East while Missouri and Texas A&M would join the SEC West.

But as it is, there's no interest on the east side so no deal.

Last year the SEC wanted Texas and Texas A&M to join when Nebraska bolted for the Big 10 and Colorado joined the Pac 10, but that didn't happen.

Oh lookie! Yet another Christian-bashing thread! We can't go two days here without one of those.

Where did you get the idea that prayer automatically works overnight on such huge problems?
Making a bush catch on fire is easy. Creating millions of new jobs takes a little longer.

Awesome! So if GOD can't create jobs overnight, then maybe some people can back off blaming Obama then. After all, he's not God.

The difference is, God does not think He is Obama.

Hack joke notwithstanding . . . I'm fairly certain Obama is well aware of his mortality.

Well, that would be one who thinks this

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

One would hope. The problem is, I think, that republicans can't win without the religious wackos, so they need to pander to that base at least to some degree.

From what I've been reading, the SEC hasn't denied TAMU, just held off an offer for now. That is because the SEC is waiting for TAMU to formally exit the Big 12 and make a formal request, so the SEC won't get mired into a possible legal battle with the heads of the Big 12 conference.

Big stakes and huge money involved. It will be interesting to see all of this play out over the next two weeks.

And, the Liberal Democrats pander to the welfare state, the GLBT and illegal immigrants.

We need a Constitutional refocus.

Texas may end up as an independent not by choice at the rate they're going. With the Pac12 getting its new media contract, I don't think they'll make the same sort of offer that the Longhorns could have gotten last year, and the other schools will quickly flee the (former) Big 12.

And if they have another season like last year....they seem to forget how recently it was that Oklahoma owned them.

Well, creating the entire universe in 6 days suggests that you're wrong. Look up "omnipotent" in a dictionary.
