Obama Care

Recommended Posts

Medicare and Medicade offices stated recently the Obama care will raise the cost of health care faster than if Obama care had not been passed.

More and more reports blame the economy and unemployment on this HC plan (looking at the numbers employment was on the way up untill nearly the day Obama signed this crap and many businesses are saying they are not hiring and are moving over seas because of the unknowns of this HC bill

And now it appears the late Senator Kennedy took good care of his states hospitals[:/]

From August 2012, insurance companies will have to offer women full coverage for a range of health services, including screening for diabetes and HIV, and birth control. Currently women have to pay at least part of the cost.

While the move has been welcomed by many as an important step toward healthcare equality for women, religious groups are critical of the plans to support birth-control measures, particularly for drugs such as ulipristal acetate, an emergency contraceptive which can be used up to five days after sex.

A representative from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has said: "The pro-life majority of Americans would be outraged to learn that their premiums must be used for this purpose." But Maryland senator, Barbara Mikulski, described the mandate as "one step closer to ending the era when simply being a woman is treated as a pre-existing condition".

Yep, costs go up because of mandates (a major part of the problem today) and companies are dropping out of the single insured market, which will lower compitition and yet again drive prices up.

The insurance companies did themselves no favors with the unequal treatment. Intentional or not, it's hard to justify providing viagra while telling women they need to pay for their contraceptives. And if we're really looking at costs rather than pro lifer morality concerns, plan B contraceptives are a hell of a lot cheaper than surgical abortions or unwanted pregnancies carried to term.

That seems a bad comparison - both are prescription meds, yet I haven't heard about viagra being offered with no co-pay or deductible.

I read a lot about the health management firms debating how much viagra should be provided.

That said, per one fact checker, the disparity is less than has been alledged in the debate:

Good post. I regularly go to factcheck.org. Also there is this site http://www.politifact.com/ . These websites seem to be good for filtering thru all the BS from BOTH sides of the aisle.
