And the wealthy does not control the government any longer (If they ever did). If that were true than how did Obama get elected to begin with? Certainly not by wealthy millionaires and billionaires.

Have you looked at the list of his campaign donors?

Why don't you do that and get back to us.

As far as poor people 'revolting' that's never going to happen. ]

Mubbarack had the same idea.

For the past two years, Americans have repeatedly told pollsters that they support higher taxes on the rich as a way to reduce the deficit.

There's a surprise - people are ok with making someone else pay to fix their problem.

Quote

Inheriting a surplus, George W. Bush added $5.07 trillion to the debt, primarily due to his tax cuts and secondarily to his wars, while Obama has added just $1.44 trillion, mostly fighting the recession, according to data from the Washington-based Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

This is also a neat trick - 2.5 years of 1.4T/year deficits and it only adds up to 1.4. Always loved the math skills of social science non graduates.

The simple fact is that the wealthy will be better off if they prevent the revolution by throwing some rice to the peasants instead of waiting for the starving peasants to slit their throats inorder to gain a few grains of rice.

Yeah, the numbers look a little odd.

Change: 4,901,104,747,205.56
Days: 2921
Amount/day: 1,677,885,911.40

1/20/2009: 10,626,877,048,913.00
8/4/2011: 14,564,970,167,709.30
Change: 3,938,093,118,796.30

No, the simple fact is that we've been throwing rice for decades, and the only thing we have to show for it is more angry peasants and fewer affluent folks to do the throwing.

The wealthy gained their wealth by cheating the workers from their due.
A worker produces $1 and the employer pays him 75 cents.
On top of that the government takes 20% to subsidize the employer and bailout his banker freinds who sold his singular mortgage to investors multiple times.
Of course a portion of the money the government kicks back to the employer and the banksters is used to prop up candidates running for government positions who will kick back money to the corporate employers and the banksters.

When the people realize the treadmill they've been shackled to they will revolt.
Machete killings and rubber necklaces may become the norm.

A smart rich guy may want to throw some rice today.

I love class envy....smells like sugar cookies.

It's not envy, most of us don't want to take advantage of our fellow man and are against slavery.
The reality is that when a man can't provide for his family he will take actions which a normally peaceful person wouldn't.
The wealthy might want to throw some rice.

Don't know Mike.
I'm sure they won't be outside yours.
I don't get the impression that you are smart enough to be wealthy,at least not for long.

***Machete killings and rubber necklaces? Dude, you need to take a break.

And you need a reality check.

I'm not talkin' about the white collared peons.
I'm talkin about the owners . The rich.
They own everything including the politicians and they own YOU!!!

Rubber necklaces and machetes is what I see in the future if they don't start throwin the rice

We have a free labor market- you are free to leave an employer and go get something better at anytime.

Have you tried getting a new job lately? Seriously?

I'm on vacation after the end of my last job. As soon as I'm willing to work again, it will be mere days. It's almost too quick, so I don't want to get the process started yet.

what a lot of dribble - the wealthy have got richer and richer until the top 1% own 90% of the country's wealth - not a healthy state...

What are you talking about? Have you ever worked in manufacturing? I spent about 10 years working the factories and in today's world the blue collar guy on the line earns more than the white collar guy in the office.

It would be simple if "we the people" actted like "we the people"

1. Fix the tax code - it's broke. Make it simple, get rid of deductions. That will in fact be raising the taxes on the "rich" but also the middle class. You CAN'T raise taxes enough to fix this problem.

2. Cut the budget 10% across the board- everything. I believe that most goverment agency's could keep functioning with that cut IF they ran as effiecent as private companies.

3. Index for inflation.

4. Pass a law that when things do get better (and they will) and revenues start to increase that NOTHING can change at least until the debt is paid off.

5. Finally pass a balanced budget admendment to avoid this mess.

What struck me recently is that our system can work, what I mean is how the Rep/Dem spend money, "We the people" have to put a limit on HOW MUCH THEY GET then they can fight, people can VOTE and life goes on.

As s small business owner this whole mess is worrying me. In the last 5 months I have added 4 jobs, I was planning on adding two more. Watching these clowns on BOTH sided really scares me.

Do you want this clown to borrow more money from China or to simply print more paper?.[:/]

i want him to tax the rich - who are the richest they have ever been in human history and who can afford to pay off the deficit they created...

We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem

Your hard on for the rich is just your jelousy

But in any event

Your solution is loony tunes

A report from the Internal Revenue Service found that the rich — 8,274 people with incomes of $10 million per year or more — earned a total of $240 billion in 2009.

Even of you confiscated every dime they earned, you would barely have enough money to cover government spending for 24 days.

What would then propose after you add the rich to the welfare lines?
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
Abraham Lincoln

I read an article recently that made a strong case against a balanced budget amendment (BBA). The language used in bills is not well defined. Thus, inevitably the courts would get involved in resolving budget disputes. If those courts are left leaning, it would present them with an opportunity to become an activist court, and that would be bad for all of us.

Kudos to you! I hope the risk you're taking in life pays off, and that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Most people have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to start a company, much less keep it going.

The money simply isn't there.

sure it is - when 1% of the population own 40% of the nation's wealth...

Do you even know the difference between "wealth" and "income?" If so, then you seem to be advocating the siezure of the assets of US citizens.:S It would take more than that to surprise me at this point.
