Not really They have been asking for the Gov to get out of their business for years But the gov does not want to and because of the way it is set up today, most farmers can not afford to stay out of the program even if the gov would let them. example, farmers can not get crop insurance unles they enrol in the programs. lawrocket 3 #15 July 21, 2011 It's a shame that the article starts off as being about the lawsuit to get FOIA records of Hansen's money-making activities while on the government payroll and turns into a rant on the global warming issue. The problem is staying on topic. The lefties would assert that this Is an anticapitalist position - he's just making money! That's not the point. He's being paid by the government, and if he's making money on the side on government time then it's a big no-no. Additionally, he has been very very good at lobbying for more money. Take a look at NASA's budget. While other funding has been slashed the GISS budget rises. And if he is making loads of money on the outside, from whom is this money coming? Is he a paid lobbyist for organizations that have a particular bent? (If so, he's not that different from other governmental leaders - the government provides the base salary and benefits while the outside influences provide the grease gravy), Rules prohibit governmental employees from making advocacy positions on government time. This makes sense because the government should remain neutral. If Hanse is getting paid to express specific viewpoints then that's not a good thing. He's double dipping. The capitalist. Argument is a crock of shit. If he's just being a capitalist then he sould resign his government position and go acquire his fortune privately. If this was the case then his records and pay and pay sources are none of our business. But as a government employee, any money he makes on government time is his employer's money. Hansen knows this. It's a shame the article went from a lawsuit trying to get records that are alleged to show that a public employee is getting paid to advocate for private groups on the public dime to one about AGW.
