In a development which may be the first constitutional crisis to come out of the growing state sovereignty movement, the federal Department of Justice has threatened to shut down air travel in Texas if the Texas legislature follows through with passage of a popular bill limiting the power of the Transportation Security Administration within the state.

Not much effect on me personally as my family doesn't fly for vacations, and when I travel (rarely) for work, I could care less if they feel me up in the airport. Some places you have to pay extra for that kind of action :)

so where is your line in the sand where it is too intrusive?

from what I know of Texas politics from afar, a federal threat like that is just pouring gas on a fire.

The TSA out of Houston is a joke.

I got passed through the normal security 'door' the other week, waited for my stuff to come through in the trays, picked my stuff up, started walking to put my shoes back on and I get called back and asked to go through the 'door' again.

I asked why and the guy said 'I don't know, just go through one more time, please'.

The policy of screening absolutely everyone is counter productive. They're through put is too high for them to be doing it effectively.

In Phoenix the 'random' swabbing of *only* economy passengers is also amusing. If it was going to be my last flight, I'd be sure to sit in as much comfort as I could.
