Helicopter insertion of a SEAL Team.

This is what I have heard as well

I can't authenticate the pic below...

Mod if it is not allowed, please remove it.

Looks photoshopped. Why if they had the body did they dump it out at sea before confirming to the world that they got the right man like they did with Al Zawahiri? Personally I won't believe it until I see some real proof.
I hope they did get the right man.

Even if they did get UBL it will change nothing except make some people feel a bit happier.
Hey at least this way there is no shrine.. or martyrs tomb for those who believe in his poison to go worship at... or if they do... maybe that will be a good thing... let em drown out there in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

I hope the hagfish and spider crabs got a good meal out there on the bottom of the ocean.

Eddited to ADD

Oh I had to add this for Jamil..;)

I spose we could have done it the good old fashioned English way with a good drawing and quartering right at Ground Zero and send a quarter off to 4 places where attacks took place... and lets not forget the head... where do you think a good place for the head on a pike would be???

How can you explain that, given journalists have been interviewing him well beyond 9/11?

No they haven't, stop making things up.

Yes, they have. Change your news channel.

Could I have done a better job?? That's totally beside the point - "intelligence" implies superior intellect... If the world's "best brains" took 10 years to accomplish this "task" I *do* find that worrying.

Soooo you don't think the Pakistani ISI had anything to do with protecting him all this time???Get real... this compound was near some of their best military assets and you can bet your bippy those assholes knew and approved it since he was on the same page with them and the Taliban for a VERY VERY long time.

This is a major blow to them... I do not think this could have happened without the bullshit games the Pakistani's have been playing over the last year.... and at this point I am pretty sure our guys got the GO because of the arrest of Americans in the country trying to get REAL intelligence .. not the bullshit the ISI has been trying to spoon feed people for so many years.

The phrase "It's the economy, stupid" comes to mind. Nobody will care that Osama is dead in Nov. 2012. They will care about the deficit and government spending.

I pretty much agree with that, too.

It'll still matter, but it's not a show-stopper any more.

BTW, I think it's pretty sick that people would go out in the middle of the night, head to the White House or Times Square and rejoice. Reminds me of the people in the ME who were rejoicing when the WTC was hit

I agree.

I'm going to need the long form certificate before I believe it - you know, the one signed by the attending coroner, the priest who gave the last rights and the spec ops guy who shot him!

It's symbolic progress by now; it probably would have been more significant 10 years ago, when the network wasn't as sophisticated as it has most likely gotten since then.

Regardless, it's really significant; in part, because of the number of people who have had that as their goal. Accomplishing a difficult goal matters.

Our treatment of the body is significant, too -- confirm, then dispatch it in a way that's not guaranteed to inflame, and that's not going to leave a monument behind for others.

And it's only easy if someone else does it

Which is probably why they are NOT kicking up a fuss about being invade by America. You don't let ANYONE invade your sovereign territory without a by your leave with shouting RAPE!!!! It's likely because ...."they know the we know that they knew"

Are you saying people helped to hide him?? Why, I am completely *shocked* by the mere idea of this.

Of course he had some help. Probably by a lot of people all over the world - NOT just in Pakistan. Obviously I can't prove this, but it seems pretty likely...

Does no one else find it worrying that he *did* get so much help/support?? Does no one else feel that 10 years is a long time to find an internationally recognised/known terrorist?? Agree with his death or not, I find it short-sighted and in very poor taste to shout that this is a "victory."

It's easy to point the finger at "them" and forget that "our" hands are not clean... It's an historic moment, but I don't believe that people should rejoice in his death. And let's not forget the "civilian" casualties that died alongside him in this case. It's a sad day. Violence perpetuates violence. Clinton's speach about peaceful political discussion is total hypocrisy - was it peaceful to shoot/kill 4 (or 5?) people to get things rolling?

Bollocks. Peace my ass. America is not a peaceful nation. Don't even get me started...

Do you REALLLLY think that anyone in that compound was an "INNOCENT" civilian???

This asshole and his ilk declared war on US.... it took a few years for people to quit ignoring said asshole and actually try to do something about him and his buddies. I guess you think... if the west just leaves "them" alone in peace that it will be all over??

It has not happened yet with this toxic branch of fundie islamists... what makes you delusional enough to believe they would allow peace to break out now or anytime before most of them get their free trip to 72 virgin land.

I live in North Alabama, where we have extensive tornado damage...no power for the last 5 days.
The power came back on this morning, and the first thing I read is that OBL has been killed.
This is going to be a good day.

Glad you are ok
Hope your family and friends are too

We released all our contract crews to go down there and help get the power back on

Hope they are helping make a difference

So, no body no evidence; is Bin at the bottom of the Indian ocean or in a torture chamber somewhere being 'interrogated'? I wonder how many AQ types are gong to be getting a grenade through their windows some time soon?

NOPE.

Nope. Just think it's hypocritical to say you want "peaceful political discussion" directly after killing 4 people...

I'm not delusional... I don't think the nut-cases will suddenly wisen up. And don't think the West will seriously reform/improve their policies/behaviour either. It's a lose-lose. I believe progress *is* possible but it would have to come from BOTH sides. So... Possible, but unlikely.

I wonder if someone would say such things if they'd actually fought for the cause and/or were very close to others who also did and died? I wonder if someone would say such things if their parents, wives/husbands, children were in those buildings which crumbled to the ground in flames? It really disgusts me to hear people criticize America after news like this. However, I do not regret fighting for your right to do so. God bless America!
