Scott is attempting to attract more business here since we are a right-to-work state as well. Unions had their role in the past, now they must go. They are creating more problems then solving them.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. But to drag Obama into it is assinine. Believe it or not , there are some things that happen that you don't agree with that have nothing to do with Obama. If it's rainning and you can't go jumping, Obama was fucking with the weather. Obama was not the 22nd hijacker, he did not lead the mob into the American Emabssy in Tehran and he wasn't the shooter on the grassy knoll. Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done. wmw999 2,589 #8 May 6, 2011 Gotta love lawyers. Boeing executives apparently made (and had documented) a number of comments saying that they'd build their next plant somewhere with no unions to avoid all the hassles with the (strike-prone) Seattle unions. Then they did so. Unfortunately, it's against the law to retaliate against employees for striking. That's the crux of the complaint, and since documentation was provided, it was kind of open and shut. Had the execs been smarter, or had they had a process for selecting the plant that involved employees, it probably would have flown with no problem -- companies do that all the time. The fact that the union in this plant is a pain in the ass is irrelevant if the law is that way. Personally, I wish that the execs had been smarter and not run off at the mouth. futuredivot 0 #10 May 6, 2011 Only valid if unions were illegal or banned in SC-they're not, they're just not mandatory. It's a personal touch state-back when, I've stepped out to the parking lot with a supervisor to 'negotiate' over some work issue. WE usually came to terms. You are only as strong as the prey you devour
wmw999 2,589 #11 May 7, 2011 We're not talking valid, we're talking legal -- two entirely different things sometimes They said they'd build in a right-to-work state to punish, and they did. Wendy P. Bolas 5 #12 May 7, 2011 The biggest issue with this sort of law is it just encourages companies to just go overseas even more. Had they threatened and done that, there's nothing that the unions or our government could do. Unions had their uses but then just got too greedy and prior to being a global economy, they could get away with it.
