DougH 270 #51 March 25, 2011 I guess it depends what "more" you are looking for. When I have a conversation or a debate I want to have a productive conversation, with constructive back and forth. I might actual hear a view point that I didn't consider. If instead I wanted to attack people with my ideas like a 2x4 I wouldn't have a real useful exchange on ideas would I. The back and forth I see from some people is really asinine. It looks like a bunch of siblings arguing... did not... did tooo... did not..."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
popsjumper 2 #54 March 26, 2011 Why is this surprising? It's not. Again, the U.S. goobermint, at all levels, is going to hell in a hand basket and there's no stopping it. It will only get worse and U.S. sheeple will bitch and moan and re-elect more bozos next time....and wonder why it's happening. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
lawrocket 3 #55 March 26, 2011 [Reply]1. Crack down on non point sources of water pollution. If you've got a farm and all the fertilizer and chicken shit runs into the river This is a great point that is overlooked in most of the public discussions and debates. Sperating storm drains from raw sewage lines will prevent raw human waste from entering the waterways but won't prevent raw animal waste from entering the waterways. Much of the regulation of this comes, believe it or not, from Air Quality regulations. The shit stinks and it puts out plenty of substances that affect air quality. Most of the animal farmers have ponds where effluent is held and treated (there are sone remarkable bacteria products being formulated) but a good rainfall runs the shit into streams or storm drains. Add other agricultural wastes, pesticides, fertilizers, and you get something even grander and worse - like the Salton Sea (ironically a strange mix of engineering disaster and subsequent federal governmental land use policy). I also greatly appreciate that you brought up the presciption drug issues fouling the water supply. Hormones and pesticides are a significant issue out here (I live in Fresno - water is big big big here because agriculture is king). I haven't heard any proposed solution to the drug issues or even any remediation tactic for that. An awesome post, though. It gets me really thinking. My wife is hotter than your wife.
