What they are trying to destroy is capitalism

Enviromnentalism is just the tool

At least that is my opinion on these nuts

Another side to this is... noone told consumers to periodically wash the 'environmentally safe' grocery sacks so as to prevent salmonella, mold or mildew. DUH! As for those compact flourescent bulbs... just a gimmick by General Electric to make a fortune from the 'global warming' 'environmental' craze.
Seems like people nowadays have to be told everything by some 'group'. Is there no such thing as common sense, any more?

Yup! That's just one of many reasons they run for office. To enlighten and guide us because they have superior powers and intelligence. They jumped on the 'green band wagon', not because they are so concerned with the environment and Bambi, Yogi and Boo-boo but because there's money in it! Hell! If it's good enough for Al Gore... it's good enough for them!

That's another subject... water! I don't know about y'all in The British Isles but here, we waste water like we waste everything else. Folks in the big cities have pretty much used-up their water supply and now, they want our water here in the rural areas. They have to have water to fill their swimming pools and hot-tubs, wash their BMW every other day, let the water from their yard sprinklers run down the gutters and want those of us in the rural areas to pick-up their slack! We're still, trying to get out of a 13+ yr. drought! They get mad when their city councilfolks tell them they need to cut-back on their water useage!

Yep. And it's not just the folks in the city. Fly over rural Texas, Nevada or Arizona and look at all the ski ponds and golf courses. Heck, we grow food in El Centro, which is one of the driest places in the US. We've gotten used to cheap water.

Lets see

You dont have your great big boat anymore (ALL 3 are parked in my driveway to the side of my garage... my sailboat is getting ready to go back in the water... you know.. that whole WIND IS FREE thang)

oh, wait

Well you are all solar and wind and have disconected from the grid correct ( I use VERY little from the grid.. but thanks for playing. I do use a wood stove to heat the whole house... far more efficient since I got a brand new one that uses about 1/4 of what I used to)

correct?

You live in town so you can use public transportation too ( wrong guess again.. I live 10 miles from work and drive a TDI Diesel that gets 50+ MPG and I get OVER 600 miles to a tank of fuel and I work from home 2 or 3 days a week)

wait
or do you still live on a acerage where you need to drive a 4 wheel drive to work? ( see above)

Hmm

from hypocrisy to trickel?

:D

And I have not jumped since Sep 2008 after a severe shoulder injury due to some exceedingly shit flying on someones part.

Want to bet my "footprint" is but a VERY small percentage of yours... since I work in computer networking... and not in the industry that spews garbage into the air water and landfills by the millions of tons a day

Edit to add

And the NEW house I am building and will be completed next year WILL have solar as well as wind generation as well as diesel genset backup . It is smaller.. it is more efficient... it has its own watersource is pretty much EQ proof and is purpose built to keep crazies at bay should that need arise for whatever reason.

Yup! Here in far-west Texas, we don't have 'ski-ponds' or swimming pools. We do have stock tanks so cattle and horses can get a drink now and then. I've been to Calexico and El Centro and they've done a pretty good job. I'm referring to the swimming pools that abound in Houston, Dallas, Amarillo and elsewhere and just how often are those pools used?
East of here, they want to build a coal fired energy plant. There's a pretty well-known rancher who wants to sell water for that plant because he claims he has an 'abundance' of the stuff. His water sypply comes from sources in the area where I live. Also, the town near his ranch will dry-up. In the spring and summer, when he irragates his alfalfa, that towwn's water pressure drops to 0! Those stock tanks I mentioned are drying up. We haven't had a drop of moisture in over 6-months. I guess, the point I'm trying to make is... we are wasteful and take too much for granted.

I definitely agree with you there. We have to be better stewards of resources like water, clean air and land. Today we're starting to see massive problems with getting enough water to people, and I think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

(Careful, though - we're at risk of being labeled "capitalism destroying nuts" if we keep this up!)

I'm not against 'capitalism' per se. As long as they consider all sides and long term effects. Then too, we are not really known for long-term. We're more into 'get rich quick' and not considering the long-term
Also, our population is growing at a rapid rate and we're feeling the strain.

Some believe the population isn't a problem.

As for you foot print?
Again, good for you

That is your choice
Problem is you want to make your choices everyone elses too

So much for freedoms you spew your shit about frequently huh:S
