HandsomeSalad 0 #51 March 14, 2011 QuoteTypical American Idiot comment... Says a dickhead who thinks ex-members of a religion determine how others of that religion behave and the legitimacy of the religion overall. People do stupid shit if they believe in a religion too much. Well done idiot, no-body needs the ex-Scientologist or ex-Hindu to point out that bad people can do bad things while believing these theologies. Quote How about you judge a man by the content of his character, and discuss his words... not a hosts pointless intro. How about you judge a religion by the millions of non-violent characters and not a small fraction of pointless idiots who take their beliefs to the extreme. Unless all Hindus are just itching to tear the stomachs out of women and throw them around and all practitioners of Judaism are responsible for Israel's crimes? No? I didn't think so. Bolas 5 #52 March 14, 2011 Quote Are there inconsistencies in the Quran? Are there inconsistencies in the Bible? If people twist and misuse the preachings/values of a religion, I don't think it's logical to claim that the religion is the problem... If someone uses a passage out of context or deliberately changes the meaning of what it actually says, the fault lies with the person and not the text. I'm not saying Islam is a good or a bad religion, but that his arguments against the religion are not logical. Extra irony points for using logical and religion in the same sentence. Religion is just the tool they use to manipulate others. Like any tool, education is needed to properly use. But wait, religion does not like to be questioned as it can't stand up to scrutiny. In fact the more truly educated one becomes on religions, the less and less plausible they become. I'm not saying we should ban religion, but it definitely needs to be removed from all government. I'd much prefer athiest leaders that don't think they are doing "God's work", "What Jesus wants", "Allah's will", etc. and are focused solely on what's best for the mortal plane, not the afterlife.Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. Agree with you completely. With the only addition that just as religion can be used as a tool to encourage "bad" acts, so too can it be used to encourage "good" ones. Karl Marx said it well: "Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opiate of the masses." It *does* serve a purpose, but I still agree with you."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

dmcoco84 5 #55 March 15, 2011 Dickhead... Really? I called you an American Idiot... something I have called myself many times in the past and talked about previously on this forum. Quote who thinks ex-members of a religion determine how others of that religion behave and the legitimacy of the religion overall. Hm... I re-read my posts... I don't see my opinion, anywhere. I posted Bill because he was talking with the congressman who recently lied to a congressional committee about bigotry against Muslims... and the congressman down played Bill's rant. If Bill... on FAUX... said that. LOL. Yeeeeah! Quote People do stupid shit if they believe in a religion too much. Really... cause I know many very religious, peacefully Muslims... and they don't hate Jews. Instead of mocking a pointless intro,.. I like to hear all sides. I watch videos of the EX-Muslim son of a Hamas leader... just as I read the Huntington Post everyday. Here... here are two women, I do agree with: A true American "moderate" Muslim beheads wife Bill once again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpMPz9JF5b8 CNN: First one that comes up if you type Moderate Muslim into you tube search. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxI8NJyUB_Q Quote How about you judge a religion by the millions of non-violent characters and not a small fraction of pointless idiots who take their beliefs to the extreme. Again... I never gave my opinion. I posted one side of the argument... Bill thinks Radical Islam is more dangerous... as do I... and I showed the ex-Muslim because his words supported what Bill said to the congressman. I simple said... "Backs up what Bill says about the Quran." (Even though I feel Bill Maher is a Piece of Shit - "I'm jealous of China, its a dictatorship, they are very efficient...) Fuck you Bill! We had a dictator... FDR. Which brought about the 22nd amendment. I agree with him, that Timothy McVeigh... wouldn't have used a nuke... Radical Muslims, would do so the first chance they got! Radical Islam is far worse than the KKK... So far... the only thing I agree with Bill Maher on.

dmcoco84 5 #58 March 15, 2011 QuoteHis anti-Islamic rhetoric is extreme and incendiary... How can you trust what a man says about Islam when he spent a lifetime promoting extreme hatred of Israel by (almost) any means? Now his goal is to destroy Islam... It looks to me like he moved from one extreme position to another. Agreed. Thank you, for actually watching the video.
dmcoco84 5 #59 March 16, 2011 Bill's comment about changing brands, was, pretty funny though... Though he's made it pretty clear he thinks individuals like me... are Stupid. I'm against Single Payer/Universal Health care at the Federal level... Yup, I'm so stupid... I'm so glad there are progressives who know better and can "drag me to it." I watched the entire thing and more links of him besides. I find it scary what he's doing. He spent many years becoming an expert at rousing anger and hatred of Israel - he seems to be doing a pretty good job at doing the same against Islam. And too many people are giving him airtime without critically deconstructing/studying/understanding his claims... Dangerous...
