Kennedy 0 #1 March 9, 2011 It's gone so far that the sufferers of this condition are now apparently terrified of any item with the word "gun" in its name. Currently: tatto gun. Up next? Staple gun and glue gun. Solder guns and caulking guns in the near future. QuoteP.G. Student Expelled For Having Tattoo Gun Tool LAUREL,Md. - Instead of reporting to school each morning, 15-year-old Byron Preston is reporting for work in his father's barber shop and nail salon. Byron was expelled from Laurel High School three months ago. He was found with a device called a "tattoo gun" in his possession. A tattoo gun fires no bullets or other projectiles. Like a solder gun or a caulking gun, it is a tool. "They said it was a weapon because it could inflict bodily harm," explained the high school sophomore, who added he had no intention of tattooing himself or anyone else. Byron said he just wanted to practice tattooing on pieces of fruit. He never got the chance. Byron was recommended for expulsion, according to paperwork from the Prince George's County Public School system for carrying a "weapon." Looks to me like the boy should be sitting in shop class and pre-engineering courses, rahter than expelled.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
JohnRich 4 #2 March 9, 2011 QuoteByron was recommended for expulsion, according to paperwork from the Prince George's County Public School system for carrying a "weapon." Prince George's County! Now that's funny. They also made this headline on the same day: About 50,000 warrants outstanding in P.G., sheriff says http://washingtonexaminer.com/local/maryland/2011/03/about-50000-warrants-outstanding-pg-sheriff-says# Maybe the cops there should spend more time chasing the real criminals, instead of picking on little boys. Andy9o8 2 #3 March 10, 2011 It appears that more sensible heads have prevailed: QuoteThe Prestons have appealed the expulsion, and were told by phone they won. But paperwork permitting his readmission to Laurel High has not arrived. A spokeswoman for Prince George's Co. Public Schools points out the school board has already begun a process of re-examining the student conduct code.
DanG 1 #4 March 10, 2011 For those not from the area, large swaths of PG County are not places most people would want to go at night. Not defending this moronic decision, and I don't know what Laurel High is like, but there are some pretty scary parts of PGC. Just to put these stories in perspective. - Dan G

Kennedy 0 #6 March 11, 2011 I graduated from UMCP. For those not "in the know," College Park is surrounded by some of the worst parts of PG County. Laurel is nowhere near those nasty areas. I don't know if they do local schools or if they bus them around the county, but either way the decision to expel the boy was plain old fashioned goat fuck stupid. Thankfully, as Andy pointed out, it looks like the boy is going back to school, but this kind of shit happens all too often.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
