Skyrad 0 #1 March 8, 2011 What does Dave’s big society mean to you? What do you understand by it and are you a supporter of it or do you believe its’ just a way of implementing cuts and expecting the rest of us to pick up the tab? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. nigel99 649 #2 March 8, 2011 I think that in principle it is a good thing. I am sick of hearing people expecting hand-outs, bitching about bus services etc. Once upon a time we used to help our neighbours out of being human it doesn't hurt to get that back. The only "example" of big society that I have seen touted is car sharing and this seems to have a number of schemes.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. Skyrad 0 #3 March 8, 2011 I agree, its been very poorly implemented, I think pat of the problem is that no one knows quite what exactly it is. I also like the idea but do think the Conservatives are using it as a vehicle for spending cuts. There was the suggestion by Dave that school leavers volunteer. The only other example I've heard of is the plans for greater powers of veto for local residents over planning permissions. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Government plans to remove government involvement. Personal responsibility is sorely lacking and we have developed a culture of not my problem someone else will pick up the mess.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. Skyrad 0 #6 March 8, 2011 That Lord who found himself in hot water because he said people don't know how good they've got it was only telling the truth. So many whingers don't realise the reality for billions of other people living on this planet. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
