Why bring up the comparison between murder rates between Germany and the US? That was YOUR choice.
QuoteQuoteThat has what to do with the murder rate, perfesser?
DaVinci brought up gun laws, and you brought up Switzerland as a paragon of virtue. You figure it out.
Mentioning Switzerland is 'bringing it up as a paragon of virtue', now? That's some pretty serious projection, perfesser. Maybe you should talk to someone about that.

How many million live in germany???
The math is little off.
Go to sigapore or korea or japan. The gun control works and drug prevention works.

What is the firearms homicide rate/100,000 in Germany, and what is it in the USA?
Why exactly would you want to ask this question?
Germany apparently has one illegal gun for every 4 people, well in excess of what is seen in America. Yet the murder rate is lower.
seems to blow away your arguments about how illegal gun sales (or stolen guns) are the problem here. Maybe it's about the number of criminals, not weapons?

What is the firearms homicide rate/100,000 in Jamaica, and what is it in the USA?
Nice diversion to a third world comparison, or one where the firearms owners overwhelmingly have prior military training.
Thanks for proving yet again that it's cultural issues and not guns.QuoteNow, back to a RELEVANT comparison...
You mean you're FINALLY going to make one, after all these years?
So you think the USA is socially more similar to Jamaica than to Germany. Interesting.
It was not I who started the Germany/USA comparison. The OP was about Germany and DaVinci brought up the USA. You brought in the extraneous and irrelevant extras. Even your precious Switzerland doesn't permit unlicensed people to carry weapons except under special certain circumstances such as travel to military training. Owners are legally responsible for third party access and usage of their weapons. Licensing IS REQUIRED.
for switzerland, that is not really true. yes, you can carry your gun to or from the range, or to or from military service. but it's got to be visibly unloaded and you're not supposed to have ANY ammunition on you.

Do you understand the meaning of the word every?
(plus that mayor has been replaced with a newer version, we went from communist to right wing with our mayors.)
Paul martin is two PMs ago. We now have a right wing PM.
And once again, the meaning of the word every eludes you...

Historically? How many innocent Jews were killed by Germany vs the US?
The answer to that question has the same relevance as your stupid question.
You seem to think that the weapon causes crime.... A juvenile opinion.
Germany has MORE illegal weapons per person that the US, but LESS gun crime. So your "theory" has been debunked with your own example.

QuoteGermany has MORE weapons per person that the US,
How do you figure that?
as per link in OP. germany has 6.4 million legal and 20 million illegal guns. Population 80 million
US in 2009 had an estimated 280 million guns in circulation (not sure of that includes illegal guns) and a population of 306 million.
How do you get more per person in Germany from that?

At any rate it still shows that making something illegal does nothing.
Wanna stop murder? Well lets just pass ANOTHER law against murder.
See the stupid in that statement?

It's more a presumption due to lack of counter information.
If the same ratio of legal to illegal were true, this would be 700M illegal weapons. Clearly not so. If we use population ratio, it would be 75M. We'd know if there were that many about.
Guns seized at crime scenes are tracked as far as the data permits. We don't see that number of hits.
It would stand to reason, in any event. The Germans appear to be willfully ignoring unfair law. Most of these 'illegal' guns are not criminal in nature. These people keep one tucked away for a rainy day. In the US, only a few people have to do this, and most of them are finally getting redress (DC, Chicago, NYC).

What is the number of illegal guns in the US? (plus a source please, I have been having a hard time finding an estimate for this).

Great motherhood statement. But, what does it mean? Does it mean we should just do nothing?

All you have done so far is show that 1st world countries with stricter gun laws than the US (which includes Switzerland) have far lower homicide rates than the US, that strict gun laws and licensing do not prevent a large fraction of the population from owning guns (Switzerland) and that you have to resort to a 3rd world slum nation (Jamaica) to make the US look good by comparison.
