Amazon 7 #1 February 24, 2011 State Rep. Bobby Franklin Proclaims that Georgia Legislature Knows the Answer to when Life Begins . Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin should be admired for his tenacity and principle. Beyond that there is not much to praise him. He wants Georgia to return to the gold standard and rape victims to be identified in court as "accusers" instead of "victims." Franklin has another idea now. His bill, HB 1, is an attempt to ban abortion in Georgia. Both sides of this heated debate are committed to their points of view. I'll ignore those arguments about pro-life and pro-choice and stick to the ridiculous claims that Franklin makes in his bill about the Supreme Court and the Georgia General Assembly. Noting that in 1973 during Roe v. Wade, former Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun wrote that "medicine, philosophy, and theology" had not settled on an answer to when life begins, Franklin proposes, "The General Assembly knows the answer to that difficult question, and that answer is that life begins at the moment of conception." Franklin suggests that a debate covering thousands of years of human civilization, science and philosophy has revealed its answer in Savannah, Georgia. Namely, at the State Capitol. I can understand disagreements about abortion, and respect those who hold proud beliefs on both sides. But, please, state legislators in Georgia are the bearers of the pearl of knowledge about when life begins? I think not. Perhaps in Franklin's next bill he can reveal the true nature of the universe. The Oracle of Georgia, known as the General Assembly, must know the answer to that. Franklin then goes on to submit that by the Tenth Amendment, Georgia reserves to "itself exclusive jurisdiction over the definition and punishment of murder." He then claims that the Constitution bars the Supreme Court from having jurisdiction in Roe v. Wade. Just to make clear that he is not suggesting secession, Franklin expresses Georgia's "warm attachment to the Union." Warm. What a cuddly political phrase. ===================================================== COOOL someone for Divot and The Reptile to support whole heartedly He wants to investigate women who have a miscarriage and charge them with a felony.... I've avoided these for the most part because i don't expect a debate from you-only attacks. You are not going to change your mind, and I'm not going to join you in being wrong. You are only as strong as the prey you devour
