Need some thoughts on AR's

Recommended Posts

So I'm in the market for a new AR. I have a good friend telling me that if I ever want to get into 3gun matches the 2 best at this time are the DPMS 3G!, and the STI AR.

What I'm looking for is something I can shoot accurately, yet play in the 3gun game should I feel so inclined. Do any other of you AR OWNERS have any thoughts on this? Should I get a gun thats super accurate, but no good for the 3gun game? Should I buy a gun that was designed for the 3gun game and lose some accuracy?

I'm torn, and BTW price is no object in this.

There really are no rules for what makes a good gun. I've seen FN, HK, AR clones, AR10 clones, M1As, and more. I saw one guy shoot a bolt action, and he certainly wasn't last.

If I was in the market for a new black rifle, I'd be looking at the SCAR, ACR, XCR, and other new guns. Depending on the next year or two, I'm thinking about a tan SCAR with two uppers; one NFA 10 or 12" and one 18" or so. Thinking about an AAC or GemTech to cap it off, but that may be pushing it. Considering calibers other than .223 as well.

Maybe a REPR in .308 cal. Then again Lewis Machine and Tool just sent a shipment of their MWS over to the Brits for their version of the squad designated marksman program. How very innnnnteresting...

Just built an AR using Alexander Arms uppers and lowers, Magup PRS stock and a18 stainless steel rifle cut Satern barrel in the 6.5 Grendel

What a tack driver!

I would recommend building your own. It's fun, easy and gives you much more understanding of the weapon.

If you want dual purpose and think one will not do both; build two uppers.
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
