The answer to your question is that we already do that. And it's damned expensive.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

>Put them on welfare and give them free governmet paid healthcare and a V.A.
>hospital and don't force govt. run healthcare down the rest of our throats.

Done! Under the new healthcare system you won't have to have government run healthcare; you can choose whichever plan you want, from whatever company you want. Your dreams have been answered!

Pathetic. Really, is that the best you can do?

So you actually believe it will get less expensive to have Obamacare?

http://www.californiahealthline.org/articles/2011/1/27/cbo-says-federal-health-care-spending-will-more-than-double-in-decade.aspx

If you believe the govt. really wants to reduce healthcare costs, then why aren't they starting with tort reform? Wouldn't it make more sense to make some changes in the way healthcare is administered and delivered? How about restricting what's covered like people who make 4 trips to the Dermatologist every year because they have a minor skin problem like Rosacea? Why do we suddenly need this huge govt. program when there's plenty of ways to try and reduce the costs first?

Would you rather prefer the status quo?

Until we can get something fair, workable and efficient, yes.

so - how long are you willing to wait . . . 1000 years? 100 years? 10 years? 1 year?
6 months? 1 month?
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

Would you rather see a complete deregulation of the insurance market?

Typical talking point... we never had deregulation under Bush, we had idiotic regulation, along with Captured Regulators. (EX: The person regulating/watching Goldman Sachs... CAME from GS)

Deregulation didn't allow Madoff to happen either...

The HC bill is far from perfect,

Right, its a piece of shit. And it was rejected when Hillary was trying it... its the EXACT same legislation.

Obama said himself as candidate Obama, that the individual mandate was her idea... not his.

but there are provisions in place to remove what does not work. Over time the bill could be tweaked so that it works for everyone.

:D

What we have now is a mess. This bill is, at least, a start towards something good.

You are hilarious.

Would you rather prefer the status quo?***

Yup! And then we can pass 1-5 page single initiative bills that will fix the issues that need to be addressed. The free market and competition will easily do the rest.

The Status Quo... LOL. Have you read Rules for Radicals?

I don't need to do any better. Them's the facts. Even your hatred of all things Obama can't change em.

We will see. I think you've really run into the ditch on this one.

Nope. Obama haters hate Obama. They cannot participate in online discussions without injecting Tourette-like exclamations like "Obamacare!" "Ayers!" "Threw his grandmother under the bus!" "Not a citizen!" "Disgrace!" They cannot even discuss politics without bringing it around to their obsession.

Are we not all guilty of bashing the other side?
What starts as an intelligent discussion of opposite views all too often evolves, rather quickly, into a bashing contest in which the original intent of the post is but a mute point.
So it goes in Speakers Corner...
