Wikileaks nomination for Nobel....

If anyone is interested, this is the skeleton argument against the extradition of Assange published by his lawyers this morning.

I was particularly struck by this:

Quote

Ms. A, (one of the "accusers") moreover, as the Swedish Prosecutor is no doubt
aware, maintained a blog in which, 6 months prior to the allegations in this
case, she set out her “7 steps for legal revenge”4 – a seven-stage plan for taking systematic revenge against an ex-lover (she has since deleted the last 6 steps
from her blog).

Here are the 7 steps:

Quote

4 “7 Steps to Legal Revenge

Step 1: Consider very carefully if you really must take revenge. It is almost always better to
forgive than to avenge . . .

Step 2: Think about why you want revenge. You need to be clear about who to take revenge
on, as well as why. Revenge is never directed against only one person, but also the actions of
the person.

Step 3: The principle of proportionality. Remember that revenge will not only match the deed
in size but also in nature. A good revenge is linked to what has been done against you. For
example if you want revenge on someone who cheated or who dumped you, you should use a
punishment with dating/sex/fidelity involved.

Step 4: Do a brainstorm of appropriate measures for the category of revenge you’re after. To
continue the example above, you can sabotage your victim’s current relationship, such as
getting his new partner to be unfaithful or ensure that he gets a madman after him.
Use your imagination!

Step 5: Figure out how you can systematically take revenge. Send your victim a series of
letters and photographs that make your victim’s new partner believe that you are still together which is better than to tell just one big lie on one single occasion.

Step 6: Rank your systematic revenge schemes from low to high in terms of likely success,
required input from you, and degree of satisfaction when you succeed. The ideal, of course, is
a revenge as strong as possible but this requires a lot of hard work and effort for it to turn
out exactly as you want it to.

Step 7: Get to work.
And remember what your goals are while you are operating, ensure that your victim will
suffer the same way as he made you suffer.”

Hey is the US government was coming after you, I expect you would be willing to accept donations for your legal fees.

I sent Julian some of my money. He can have it - he's a fucking hero in my books and I will do what I can to support any legal battles he is into.

Thank you for sending money to a political terrorist who is actively trying to damage our country's international relations. >:(
I could post hear what that makes you but I would quickly be given a time out.

Don't worry, apparently the Russians are mad at him, too. Does that make him good?

Since you are such a firm believer in being open, why don't you practice what you preach and post all of your personal information here in this thread? Full name, DOB, city of birth, mother's maiden name, SS#, etc.

Sex by surprise?

Sounds like a prisoner went to sleep face down and...SURPRISE!
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I can't understand why any good American wouldn't support him, he exposes crimes of murder and mayhem committed and covered up by the US Government.

Should we overlook these crimes? No! and the people responsible for them should be criminally prosecuted.

I've made two direct requests for information on this point. I have not seen a response. I have to believe there was no evidence of crimes by the US Government or a cover-up.

I also have to dismiss anything this person claims as a fact in the future unless evidence is provided.

I learned pretty much all I need to know about Assange when I read his Q&A session back around late November early December last year.

He panders to his fans and responds to ernest questions about diplomatic damage with "tldr;" He's a "useful idiot" like so any before him and very much unworthy of donations, sympathy, etc.

and its your right to say that and even think that. I see him as a champion of people who want open and transparent government.

A lot of the greatest people in the world have been dismissed with similar comments as yours, especially prior to the 'being the greatest people' etc

Quite typical that one would want someone else to do what one wouldn't do themselves.

The problem is that apparently you live in an absolutist, extremist world...all or nothing. Either absolute/extreme has its own problems.

Nobody is saying ALL here.
Only YOU are saying NOTHING.
Living in the extremes tends to cloud one's thinking.

There are no absolutes.
Well, except for dying, maybe.

this issue is not whether to not we post OUR personal information in case you lost the point of the thread. The thread is about open government and the benefits of it.

jeeezzz.

Constitutionally - you appear to not be too up on the issue

So your PERSONAL information is to be kept secret while you advocate the clandestined acquisition of government secrets, (not crimes, just secrets), that can potentially and have damaged relations with other countries, potentially endangering the whole of the 300M people living in thn this country, but your information is sacred. OK

So - if all that "Sacred" information, all of it, your holdings, your buisness profit, your personal debt, your tax info, your family's financial and legal portfolios, and perhaps even your children's information, were somehow distributed on the interweb, would the guy that did it still be your hero? What if it was Assange himself?

Actually, he is doing what he advocates. he fully disagrees with the posting of the information, so he would be, in this argument, not accountable for posting info. The people that advocate the release of the info should also be in favor of releasing their own.

He has Put up - the others are the ones that have not.
