That same attitude is why it is a really bad idea to allow some mindless bureaucrat to determine who is or isn't sane enough to assert their 2nd Amendment rights. Zero tolerance is an excuse to not to have to make a decision. If you got people on one side saying "he's a criminal" and people on the other side saying "he's just a kid," it gives the bureaucrat a chance to say "it's out of my hands." Never mind the kid or what really happened, or if he is a good kid or not or any facts in the matter. As long as the Bureaucrat has his ass covered. champu 1 #14 February 4, 2011 Too lazy to actually research this... How often do well-meaning students bring actually dangerous weapons to school and the result is an injury or fatality? I know the "if it bleeds it leads" mantra but really all you ever hear about are school shootings (too late for ZT, people already dead) and people getting busted with completely non-dangerous items like in this story (ZT punishes someone who was not a threat to safety.) jgoose71 0 #16 February 4, 2011 Quote Just more "law and order" right wing school officials flexing their puny, conservative brains. If you have ever watched law and order you would know that the writers and actors are left wing..... And if the school officials were right wing then: a) there wouldn't be teachers unions full of lawyers righting these crappy laws and b) the real issues in schools that are causing the problems would be addressed, which is lack of discipline. Why do you think that 1 teacher was able to teach kids how to read, write and do arithmetic using only a chalk board 60 years ago? The kids were paying attention. If the teacher didn't beat that ass, there would be a mother and a father at home with a belt that would. Bring back the paddle!!!!"There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Butters 0 #17 February 4, 2011 Quote "We are just very vigilant and we feel that if we draw a very strict line then we have much less worry about someone bringing in something dangerous," said Blachford. Yes, because drawing a strict line will definitely stop someone bringing in something dangerous ... Quote Deseire Gherard, a parent of one of the students at the school, agrees with the policy. "I'd rather it be dealt with more severely than not," said Gherard. "I would rather them go a little bit too far for the safety of all the children then to say 'okay, it was probably nothing.'" Grab a slide and take a ride down the slipper slope. "That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
