A break in the Bush ranks

I'm gonna guess that you don't have kids.

I would never consider one's offspring part of their political 'ranks'.

I dont think it matters much to the Obama supporters. Deflecting to Bush is all they can do to take their minds of total failure their man is becoming

So you admit Bush was/is a failure?

Failure? No not really
Some mistakes and drawbacks? Yes

But you go back to Bush to try and forget Obama's dismal record now too?

Obama is woefully out of his league (there is no math or science requirement for a Juris Doctor), but that does not make Bush any less incompetent.

Bush showed all the decision-making skill of someone who chooses to use a shotgun to kill flies (okay, it works - but it's tough on the furniture...).

Elegant, insigtful solutions are not the long suit of either. At least when Obama is spouting nonsense he sounds coherent.

Wrong on both counts.

So your contention is that unless children always agree with their parents on every single issue, that any disagreement is considered "a break in the ranks"?

Would this philosophy of yours apply to wives also?

No - why don't you read the thread for a change?

www.brookings.edu/opinions/2000/0227elections_hess.aspx

Why don't you try answering the question instead of using someone elses opinion and expecting others to "know" what your philosophy is?

I did answer. If you bothered to read, you would see it.

Barbara Bush joins Meghan McCain and Mary Cheney.

I guess there must be a cryptic message in there somewhere. Is your philosophy an anagram?

Not sounding "coherent" in ones opinion does not make someone stupid

Ok, with Biden it does.

I believe it has been shown here that Bush's IQ is higher than our current President

That said

I know people who can not change a tire on a car who have extremely high IQ's. And I know people with lower IQ's that can work circles around the higher when doing or thinking about almost anything

Point?

IQ is no substitute for common sense and integrity

Obama has neither

He is a political animal only bolstered up by those who thought he would make a good president. (The media comes to mind). No real world experience, no economic common sense with an ability to flop and flip and get a pass from his supporters

Given a choice I would take Bush back for 4 more years
That is an easy choice

Just another hate Obama post huh billvon[:/]

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

I did not know that anyone was out to "destroy everything that America stands for"

What exactly does America stand for anyway. Would that be YOUR America or my America? Or someone else's America.

The problem with statements like yours is that it assumes there is only one definition - and there is not.

Pull your pants up - no one is trying to destroy America - some people speak up about issues, just like you do, and some people want change and reform on SPECIFIC issues - not the whole of American society.

geez.....

I agree with IQ statement, but Obama is pretty bright - he just does not have the balls to demand/force/implement/influence/whatever it his way.

Bush was an idiot, but he had the balls to say my-way-or-the-highway. I actually have respect for that.

4 more years of Bush? wow, that would be tragic....

I'm seeing friends with children that are getting full rides based simply on good grades and a low income (on paper anyway).
Seems rather easy to get into ivy league schools.

Which do you think is better: full ride based on grades, or full ride because Grandpa gave $millions to the school?

With current Foreign policy and economic policy in mind I would say much less tragic than where we are and where we are currently headed

I was responding to another poster's comments regarding the difficulty of getting in.
I would fully support one giving millions getting admittance of their kids. It's kinda like paying tuition, only lots more. Do the math.
Their contributions enable a school to provide for an assload more options and programs than the free riders.

Arguing whether Bush or Obama is "better" is akin to discussing the relative merits of dog vs. cat excreta.

"Dog poo is the best!"

"Nothing beats cat droppings!"

When all is said and done, it's all faeces.

Maybe, but the idea of kneeling before the altar of mediocrity offends me deeply.

I will take a brilliant, hard working student over a child of privelege any day.

I have known rather a few kids who could have rested on their family's economic laurels, but were fully expected to achieve 4.0 GPAs and to otherwise excel in all things in which they participated. Being rich is no excuse for incompetence.

Agreed.
But when someone offers millions in contributions to a great college, it's considered polite to say thank you.
Requiring that 'thank you' to succeed should be expected though.

"Thank you" does not require admitting a mediocre student.

I'm not backpedaling.
I simply disagree with you that one's children are part of a political 'ranks'.

Common sense says, "fix it with duct tape."

IQ says, "The design should be corrected for the next time around."

Integrity says, "Don't just incorporate the duct tape into the design."

Hmm. The economy is recovering, the healthcare bill was passed and he's climbing in the polls. So are the democrats. The GOP is dropping again. That must really be eating at you.
