Where do you get your news?

Recommended Posts

just for glancing at "what's going on" I pull up google news. I have it customized to show me the topics I want to see. That (obviously) is from all sorts of sources. If I'm looking for something very current that someone mentioned to me or I heard about, I usually pull up CNN.

I get most of my news from Reuters. Plus a smattering of Yahoo, & other sites. I also buy the local paper a few times a week.

Providers such as CNN, Time, Newsweek, Fox, etal are so biased. I simply can't read them w/o grumbling @the text.

I would say that ALL of them are biased to one degree or another

That is why looking at many sites help provide more of the info needed

To bad many of the main media outlets just use wire releases like AP and just do a reprint or repost

I like the local papers and radio outlets best
When I see a story that is of interest I like to see if I can find local outlets
Usually get a much different perspective without the billvon context twist

Agreed. I think the ones I mentioned take it to the extreme, though.

USA Today every weekday. NY Times Sundays and some weekdays. WSJ and local paper once in a while. FOX News website several times/day for breaking news.

I heard an NPR story on some thing like this. Outlet A used Outlet B as a source. Outlet B uesed Outlet A as comfirmation. They both ran with it and it became "the truth." In this age of instant electronic media, we need to be careful.

The wire services are a great way to just get the "what". I read from them directly without going through news outlets.

Many times a story from ABC to CBS to NBC to MSNBC et al are exactly the same

Many times that is directly from the wire service

Gotta be careful
