labrys 0 #1 January 25, 2011 I don't usually post about this kind of stuff, but this article really pissed me off: http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/01/25/georgia.governor.photo/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn QuoteAtlanta (CNN) -- A Spanish-language newspaper in Georgia has drawn bipartisan criticism for publishing a doctored photograph depicting the state's new governor as a Nazi. El Nuevo Georgia editor Rafael Navarro said the picture was meant to call attention to Hispanic issues -- and grab the attention of residents and politicians who often ignore the Hispanic community. "Americans don't read our paper because they can't read Spanish. They don't read our news, our editorials and the opinion of the community. But if they see a picture, they'll get it." he said. That's one of the most ignorant arguments I've ever heard. Honestly? If you'd like Americans to read your articles and opinions then print them in ENGLISH.Owned by Remi #? davjohns 1 #6 January 25, 2011 Interesting. I think they have a point. More Americans need to learn to speak Spanish to accomodate the illegal aliens. Until the majority bends to the will of these criminals, publishing insults is a perfectly legitimate means of redress. Wait.... Too many things wrong with that story...I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

davjohns 1 #10 January 25, 2011 QuoteQuoteInteresting. I think they have a point. More Americans need to learn to speak Spanish to accomodate the illegal aliens. What about all the legal Spanish speakers? They have to learn English to become citizens. Reading Spanish papers isn't likely to facilitate that. I was in Iraq for a year. I learned a great deal of Arabic and Arab ways. I embraced their ways every chance I got. If I was there as a voluntary move, I would definitely seek to become fluent in Arabic. I would never insult the Arabs to try to bring attention to my issues while publishing an English language paper for others like me. I would consider it extremely insulting to my hosts...like this event.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I don’t disagree I’m just trying to find out what HandsomeSalad believes. Being able to speak both languages is great. I often get the impression that when a foreigner moves to the United States it is almost begrudgingly. They want everything this country has to offer but through no further effort on their part other than locating here. If the effort that is spent resisting assimilation was in stead spent learning the language they would be way ahead of the game.
