What's wrong with psychiatry?

Recommended Posts

A psychiatrist explains.

I saw evidence of Dr. McLaren's claim in the field. As an assessment counselor in a psych hospital, my job was to present criteria to the admitting physician that would justify the admission and to convince the patient to sign in voluntarily. Psychiatrists would change diagnoses to fit what Medicare and/or insurance were currently accepting for payment.

Edited to add comment.

Before clicking on the thread I knew which group of people was going to be behind the subject of this thread.

And whad'ya know, I was right.

Your avatar and your signature leads me to believe you're a christian, yet you're promoting the BS these quacks are producing.

If you want proper critique of Psychology / Psychiatry watch / listen to this:

Thank you for your reply.

I could not seem to locate the link to Scientology. However, I also agree with the message from your link. The latter supports the former, aside from the Scientology BS.

Twenty-five plus years in the field of social services convinced me that the "nannys in charge" were vengeful and powerful. They want the males whimpering, obedient and castrated.

I agree and state again, I cannot find the CoS connection. Where is it?

I finally found the connection Dr. McLaren - CCHRI - Scientology.

I still believe the message of the OP video is accurate.

I once read Dianetics. By the time I finished it, I had a good understanding that the CoS is completely nuts.

My first encounter with the group was in Denver, CO 1975. They posted a classified seeking a substance abuse counselor. I applied for the position.

The interview process led me through a labyrinth of offices. Each interview concluded with the close of me paying them money and joining their program.

After about six or so of these "job" interviews I stated that I was not interested and desired to leave. I had to ask directions to find my way out. They scared the crap out of me.

Geico's advertising team rocks!

I'd love to collaborate with those guys. Can you imagine all the funny ass concepts they create that don't even make it to the cutting room? It would be a blast!

I miss that stuff...

My grandparents frequently reminded me, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." That one gets me every time as well.

They have flooded the market with so many ads that I don't think it's a problem for them.

After meeting several thru social contacts and friends who have been directed to them for "counseling, I believe that the field drew a disproportionate number of social misfits, seeking to overcome their own poverty issues.

You are absolutely correct.

Last time I checked, the CoS had not organized any Crusades or Inquisitions. The CoS has not massacred non-believers, tortured anyone, burned anyone at the stake...

The evidence supporting their beliefs is identical in all respects with the evidence supporting any other religion's beliefs. NONE.

The same thing is "wrong" with it is the same as everywhere else. People don't want to take accountability and responsibility for their own actions/inactions.

So they make someone else responsible: family, friends, a diety, the government, a doctor, a celebrity, etc.

Many times what's "wrong" with the person is simply they think something is wrong with them. Rather than accept that or change something, they get their doctor to prescribe some sort of drug or they recommend some sort of drug.

Granted, there are people out there with serious issues that do need treatment and medication, but most likely far fewer than are actually on them or simply just the wrong people on them.

They certainly have organized a legal Crusade against anyone that leaves and thinks about talking.

every church is a "bunch of psychos"..

Some are more psycho than others.

I don't think anyone has ever worried about the Unitarian cult. Or the Buddhist Church.

Scientology is pretty far along the extreme, only exceeded by the Hare Krishnas and Moonees, and then the ones that end with a glass of punch. A bit shallower are the Mormons and the Southern Christians, and then then the Catholics (modern day).
