billvon 3,132 #2 January 6, 2011 He has a good point. Heck, Bush led our troops into battle; surely Obama can at least take a few rounds for appearance's sake. http://www.theonion.com/articles/bush-bravely-leads-3rd-infantry-into-battle,144/

I love SC opinions and how they flip every four or 8 years. I don't really want any president to stand in the line of fire - mainly, because I've not been impressed with any of our vice presidents in the last couple decades at least. ... When Bush the First was Pres. the joke (I think it was a joke) was that the Secret Service had standing orders. If the Bush went down, the first thing they were to do is shoot Quayle. tmarine253 0 #6 January 6, 2011 The Congressman quoted needs to let the American public in on who his dealer is because he has to be using some good shit. Even if the President asked to be exposed to some sort of danger I have a feeling he would be told otherwise by Secret Service Agents and military personnel whose job it is to make sure he stays alive. Andy9o8 3 #7 January 6, 2011 I'm not sure I disagree with the general proposition that national leaders (both executive and legislative) who send their nations' young adults to war should lead them into battle. Or at least take point on the hot patrols.

rehmwa 2 #11 January 6, 2011 I wasn't sure if we add GHWB or not since he became president briefly later. At the time, I don't really even recall seeing him at all. of course, Reagan did get shot - as you're referencing here. Strangely enough (or not), GHWB doesn't seem to be too objectionable by either partisan group here on SC.....I see correlation ...
