Amazon/Lieberman v 1st Amendment (Wikileaks)

So it looks like when the WikiLeaks site got knocked out by either a DoS attack or just heavy demand, they switched to Amazon's EC2 cloud - a very good use of the technology for peak needs.

Then Congress (and likely other DC folks) had a word, and the customer was dropped.

""The company's decision to cut off WikiLeaks now is the right decision and should set the standard for other companies WikiLeaks is using to distribute its illegally seized material," Lieberman said in a statement. He added that he would have further questions for Amazon about the affair."

I find the whole wikileaks subject to be full of grey, but our history is full of examples of necessary leaks being made. Certainly it's easier for a non American service provider to be the host - they don't have to listen to government complaints, and can't be directly shut down by them. The last line caught my eye though - implies Lieberman believes they should have been policing up front, a self imposed restraint.

of course not - you'd be on the MS cloud!

Nope that is SOOOOO pre 22 OCT 2010.... I no longer need to deal with THE EVIL EMPIRE.:ph34r:

I gave back my KIN phone and declined the Win Phone 7 they wanted to give me for the last month I was there since I was transitioning all the hundreds of servers I bought for PINK/KIN over to Win Phone:ph34r::ph34r:

Now I actually have to friggin BUY server licensing :)

Keep up will ya:ph34r:

do you still use a Zune?!

I never HAD a Zune altho I could download anything I wanted to the KIN for free... but since I had my iPod.. there really was no need. I would rather listen to a good book on the iPod than to download a gajillion MP3's.

THere just was not enough time in the day to DL the latest build from the xxxPMX fileserver ... or the tons of music. Plenty of people did.. but I was more interested in getting my work done and not being mired in the endless downloads to Dogfood the product.
