Saying that the repair of mosques as a class is particularly bad demonstrates prejudice against a particular religion. Our constitution says that we shall respect any particular institution of religion. The reasonable converse would probably be that we also don't discriminate based on religion. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. billvon 3,133 #3 November 12, 2010 So we gave Cairo $770 million to rebuild after a sewer disaster, and some of that money went to repairing the mosques that were damaged in the same disaster. (I note they did not mention how much of that $770 million went to repairing the mosques - it could have been $10.) The issue to me is not why some of that money was spent rebuilding mosques. That's no more heinous than having some of the New Orleans reconstruction money go to repairing churches. The bigger issue is why we're spending our own money to rebuild other people's sewer systems. I could understand giving it to Tijuana - after all their sewer becomes our "river." But Cairo?

Rebuilding "New Orleans" churchs, were in the "US" ("if they rebuilt any", I don't think they were included in government funds, unless they were historic buildings) We really need to focus on our own country for a while, bring our troops home, and take care of The United states.... (Note that since they did not restrict it to any religion, there are no First Amemdment issues.) >We really need to focus on our own country for a while, bring our troops >home, and take care of The United states.... I agree. We don't need to be rebuilding Cairo sewers (or mosques, or churches.)
