TheBachelor 5 #1 November 3, 2010 The headline on Yahoo news today says "Obama signals willingness to compromise." Is this deja vu? Didn't he run on a platform of bipartisanship? That policy lasted right up to the moment he took office. Then it was "damn the republicans (and America), full speed ahead!" I can't decide which of the 50 snarky comments that are in my head is most appropriate, so I'll refrain for now. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... rehmwa 2 #2 November 3, 2010 Well, now he has 2 years to show us he's a consensus builder like he claimed, rather than a bully like he was the last two years just because congress was in his hip pocket. I'm hopeful. ... Gravitymaster 0 #3 November 3, 2010 Right..NOW he wants to compromise. Quite a change in attitude from the cockyness he, Pelosi and Reid and other Democrats displayed after the last election. I'd love to see Madame Pelosi take a few huge bites of Humble Pie. He and the Democrats have been handed the equivelant of a "Cease and Desist Order". I think the last guy or two had the same thing happen. So I'm not throwing rocks just yet. A pull back from absolute power is a good thing - less abuse, less arrogance might work to the good (we can hope). Give me a split party government any day. ... The statements thus far from the (D)s have been perfectly predictable per the last 20 years and spanning both sides of the aisle. I wasn't expecting the whole "second chance" thing from the (R)s, so I'm not sure what to make of that yet. A nice sentiment, but likely insincere given the source (politicians). I really want to believe him, but like with all politicians, I am very weary right now. airdvr 210 #10 November 4, 2010 The White House Blog President Obama Invites Bipartisan Meeting on the Economy: "Not Just Going to Be a Photo Op" Quote After meeting with his Cabinet this morning, the President reitereated that "it’s clear that the voters sent a message, which is they want us to focus on the economy and jobs and moving this country forward." To that end, he immediately extended an invite to leaders of both parties in Congress for a substantive meeting to get going on job creation and the other central issues lying ahead: http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/11/04/president-obama-invites-bipartisan-meeting-economy-not-just-going-be-a-photo-op Well duh!
