happythoughts 0 #1 November 3, 2010 Some politicians are born to lose. They aren't going to win, and everyone knows that, but that is their strength. They do win, but at a different level than their active status. Examples - After some indiscretions, Ted Kennedy could never run for Pres, but he could always get elected in Mass. So, every 4 years, the Dems trot him out to say things about the Rep candidate that the Dem candidate could never say (and probably no one should). He is flame-proof. What kind of character assassination can you fling back at him ? On the TP program is O'Donnell. She may never win, but she will certainly exist as the person who will say anything in her brain. Handy for the person putting stuff in her ear. She can make a good living putting her name on blogs and making appearances. Remember all the racist stuff that Clinton piled on in NC and Miss while his hubby was running ? "Tsk, tsk... don't say those things (but we're glad you did)" Those are the first 3 that come to mind. One from each of our opposing teams.

However, a recognizable example. In local politics, a local drunk nicknamed "Bum" ran for office frequently, just so he make remarks about local politicians in public. He did things like lose parts of two fingers while stealing copper from a light pole (active one) while inebriated. Also a good example, but not widely known. popsjumper 2 #4 November 3, 2010 You guys still have...what's his name...Jim Fair? down there? Nah..he died in the early 90's. "Fair was often jailed for contempt of court for mouthing off at judges and witnesses in open court. If he had something to say, he'd say it no matter what the rules were or who was present...and he was always willing to accept the consequences and sue to have them changed." http://www.ourcampaigns.com/CandidateDetail.html?CandidateID=8056My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
