Liberals do the wondering. "We're smart and brilliant and know what's best for them. They are dumb and don't know what's good for them. How dare the peasants not appreciate all we do for them. What we say is good for everyone is good for everyone. We know because we're smart."

As opposed to what, wanting idiots to be in charge? Because that's the only difference I'm seeing in the argument you've presented above. Both sides are going to end up telling people what's "good for them", but in your plan you seem to actively want those people not to have education? How does that make sense?

Idiots are in charge
But we will start to change that in a week

(but we will have to keep a close eye on the new ones because there must be something in the water in DC)

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

There's another option that Republicans an Democrats alike don't ever contemplate: "Lawrocket knows what's best for lawrocket." When I hear Obama talk about doing "What's best for all Americans" I figure he's an idiot because he knows that there is no such thing. When I hear a Republican talk about the Right thing for all Americans I think he's an idiot because there is no such thing.

Who do you want in charge of you, Paul? Who do you want telling you what to do and what not to do with your life?

I'll tell you whom I want - ME. My wife. That's it. Anyone who tells me that confiscating my earnings is best for everyone is a moron because I know it isn't best for at least one person. What's best for ME isn't what's best for everyone. For me to suggest that what is best for me is what everyone should do would make me an arrogant prick. So I want ME running ME. I don't want to run "things." I want to run ME and only my wife has a say in it. Consersatives may object to me because I'm ignorant of God's plans to damn me to hell. Liberals may think I'm an idiot because I disagree that they know what's best for me better than I do.

Re: idiots
If anyone has to be in charge let us make that person an idiot. Idiots didn't bring down Enron or Bear Stearns. It takes a special kind of lunatic brilliance to justify a $1.3 trillion deficit (the entire cost of the ISS has been $150 billion.) Idiots areound the world would think, "we cannot afford this."

The fools. They're too stupid to understand. They don't know what's good for them. Sure, save the planet for the kids. Right. Passing the cost with everything else is just dandy.

OK OK... All you good conservatives should be able to KEEP everything you earn, But stay the fuck off the roads.. move to your own fucking island... defend yourselves... make your own schools with prayers every morning noon and night and be sure to stay well armed to protect yourself from others who figure what they can take from you is theirs.

Your so called libertarian heaven... just aunt gonna happen because people have a nature based on human nature and PERSONAL GREED.

Personally I do not mind living in a society where the people are educated, we have roads and services that we all pay for. I think we end up with a much more livable country than those wet dream anarchist/libertarian pipe dreams :S:S:S

No. I don't. I pay for my student loans, rent, food, car, etc.

Did you read the $1.3 trillion deficit part? Perhaps you fail to comprehend the sheer size of that number. Perhaps you are uneducated and ignorant to the point that $1.3 trillion dollar DEFICIT simply exceeds the scope of your comprehension.

Yep. It's nice to see it admitted.

If you think Democrats don't have that nature then you think Democrats are inhuman. Perhaps you are immune from human nature.

Shame on you councilor I thought you were above personal attacks

[:/][:/]

I really wish you conservatives could be honest enough to own up to the very simple fact where much of that deficit spending yall are blithering on about was set in place by the programs and policies of that guy you so vehemently profess to never have supported ( yeah right).. but you schtick sure sounds the same as all the usual suspects.....http://www.seeingtheforest.com/archives/2010/01/cato_dont_blame_1.htm

January 30, 2010
Cato: Don't Blame Obama for Bush’s 2009 Deficit -- by Dave Johnson
Republicans like to claim that Obama "tripled the deficit" and point to the huge 2009 budget deficit. They use charts that show the 2009 deficit was, indeed, huge and about triple the prior year's borrowing. But the 2009 budget was the last year of BUSH budgets.
When you look at charts or hear descriptions from Republicans, they always say that this was Obama's deficit. This is just propaganda- lies intended to deceive. For example, when Obama spoke at the Republican caucus retreat yesterday, GOP Rep. Jeb Hensarling of Texas said that Obama had "tripled the deficit." A CNN fact check addresses this,

Obama was essentially correct when he said he inherited a budget deficit of $1.3 trillion. Though the budget deficit for 2008 was a then-record $458.6 billion, the CBO issued a projection in January 2009, just days before Obama took office that the budget deficit would reach $1.2 trillion that year, before the cost of any new stimulus plan or other legislation was taken into account. So again, Republican claims that Obama has somehow increased the deficit are just lies intended to trick people. This massive increase that was reported after the fiscal year ended Sept. 20 occurred under Bush.

>Wouldn't it be nice if the bar were set a bit higher?

It would indeed. But based on what I've seen here, as long as someone can put someone else down, they feel like they have risen. And with that sort of thinking, the bar will never rise - the other bar will just decline.

It would be nice some day to see a politician pay for an ad that lists what they want to do, and what their record is, rather than all the failings of their opponents. It would be cool to see people here promote their favorite candidate instead of just bashing Obama, or O'Donnell, or the Democrats. So far, though, angry one-liners and thoughtless insults far outweigh any other kind of political commentary.

Will that ever change? I doubt it. That would take a dedication to the principles behind the US as a whole instead of blind allegiance to a party - and in general people no longer feel any such dedication. We're used to seeing politics as a football game, where only one team can win, and it better be my team. That sort of thinking wins elections - and loses republics.

..you gotta be scratching your head and wondering how it all went south so quickly.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how the Republicans convinced so many that the President is an Islamic Kenyan, a communist, and hell bent on destroying the lives of all the decent white folk.

Then again on the other hand, no one has ever gone wrong underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

DUUUUDE could you just summarize your lame ass link-O-rama with some missives from your OWN brain?

Oh, but why wear out valuable synapses when copy and paste can give a person the illusion of having an opinion? Even though it's just regurgitation, at least the other non-thinkers will buy it.

I mean, writing down your own thoughts about something is so hard. Getting all those letters together to form words while following some vague rules of English . . . who has time for that? No, it's way easier to completely dismiss a topic altogether by just copying and pasting some vague crap or a link to a nutcase blogger web site as a distraction.

Writing? Leave that to people with time on their hands. Fuck it, I'm on DZ.com. I've got way more important things to do than actually write something. I have to make sure I can post nonsense faster than the people I disagree with. How else am I going to win if not by flooding the forum? By using logic? Fuck that. That shit is for neo maxi zoom dweebs.

amazing who can get away with PA's , i hope i don't get banned or censored for pointing it out !

If you think that was a personal attack, you probably haven't been paying attention to my very generic attack on copy and paste posts that don't bring any substance or original content by users.

As for being censored, uh, I believe your post is still there.

Censorship and criticism are two completely different things.

Personal observation of local campaign ads
Republican candidates are mentioning "Republican" or "Conservative" in TV and print ads. Democratic candidates are likely to not mention any party affiliation. I think it is a conscious distancing by the candidates.

Agreed. Another observation is that republican candidates do nothing but attack democrats. Would be great to see an ad that says "here's what I plan to do."

He is indeed running attack ads. However, the place where he seems to differ from her approach is that he also runs ads that say "Brown did X while he was in office and plans to do Y."

>Yeaaaaa Dems are Sssoooooooooooooo clean....

No, they're not.

I see the same from both sides of the fence here for the TX gov race. both sides accuse the other of corruption and criminal activity. At least the Bill White can make fun of his own ears (once heard them described as "so big he can hear the sun come up").
