I go monts at a time without hearing about Republicans wanting to give them jobs. Ironically, It is mostly the liberal leaning sub contractors that I know, that get caught by my little system of checking immigration status before the are allowed on the project site to work. I have lost quite a few "friends" that way. turtlespeed 226 #6 October 10, 2010 QuoteYep, that Meg Wittman in California sure is a liberal. I haven't heard anything about her. I have read a few things. The difference I see here is that the people that I hold conversations with have better things to talk about. Maybe your friends and people that you talk to and maybe even you yourself need to try to not dwell on the subject and broaden your subject pool.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
quade 4 #7 October 10, 2010 I see, so you're back peddling on the number of Republicans that decry illegals crossing the border yet hire them as for housework yet say they have the interests of the hispanic community at heart. Sorry, but that's just BS. The Republicans attempt to play both sides of the street and whip up the "fear" of illegals in places like Arizona and STILL expect to get a healthy hispanic vote? Don't make me laugh.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
turtlespeed 226 #8 October 10, 2010 Quote Don't make me laugh. I'm not back peddling. I have personal experience with the illegal hiring issues. I do my part. Do you? This is a relatively small town. The construction community is a small entity locally. What have you specifically, personally done to help prevent the hiring of illegals? What specific efforts do you put forth? What systems have you put in place to combat the illegal hiring of illegal immigrants? Don't make YOU laugh? You are part of the problem.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

funjumper101 15 #13 October 10, 2010 Quote That is why we need to have a turnover and term limits. Turnover and term limits have been proven to be a disaster where they have been voted into existence. The California budget FUBAR can be directly attributed to the lack of professional politicians in Sacramento. Two terms and gone means no one is around long enough to really understand how to make the system work. No one is around long enough to get to know each other and learn to work together. No one is around long enough to build any kind of coalition to actually accomplish anything meaningful. Constantly hiring new rookies for the important job of governing is insane. You don't intentionally hire a rookie heart surgeon, car mechanic, house contractor, or other professsional. Why would any sane person want to constantly hire rookie politicians? The results of term limits does tie perfectly into the Republican concept that all government is BAD, especially effective government that actually taxes fairly, and guides and directs the economy for the benefit of all. By making the government completely ineffective, the incredibly wealthy folks behind the Conservative movement keep control of the wealth of the country. Funny how they keep getting a bigger and bigger slice of the economic pie, while the rest of us keep getting less and less. It used to be that a single income for a working person could support a nuclear family. Not anymore... And so many of the folks that are getting fucked by the wealthy are lubing themselves up, bending over, and hollering for MORE!!!! The facts show that the best economic times this country has ever had is when taxes on the highest earners were in excess of 50%, with really generous writeoffs for spending that income. Low taxes are no incentive for spending, as in, low taxes are not the correct answer for a consumer based economy.
