quade 4 #1 October 6, 2010 Quote Fox News briefly fell for a fake news story Tuesday about Los Angeles looking to spend $1 billion on jetpacks for its police force, but quickly retracted the story, the Huffington Post reported Wednesday. The hosts of "Fox and Friends" seemed skeptical about the story and retracted the report within an hour, the blog said. Gawker suggested the report probably originated from a story in the Weekly World News, the tongue-in-cheek publication behind such characters as Bat Boy. As The Hollywood Reporter had exclusively reported, the Weekly World News last year signed with CAA. Check out the video. Too bad they don't use their brakes, instead. This one was even worse. QuoteNot a jet pack. A ducted fan device the mfgr is calling a "jet" pack. An aero ENGR genius I graduated with is working on a smaller version under DARPA (or other mil research) contract. Their goal was allowing a grunt to jump ten or fifteen feet up or twenty five feet forward, or something close. They had the same problem, scale and fuel weight. Military wanted something wearable but worthwhile. I expect they shut down already. Sorry, but no jump packs this decade boys and girl. edit: spellingwitty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yes, but people should probably use their brain just a wee bit more if they think the LAPD is going t spend a BILLION DOLLARS on them. FFS, the LAPD hasn't even bought new squad cars for the last two years due to budget.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

yourmomma 0 #14 October 10, 2010 Normally I would make a snide remark, however having driven the perimeter of the south island I can honestly say letting them speed off so they can kill themselves on those roads is a reasonable tactic.
