Shootin and death at UTA

(Sept. 28) -- A man wearing a suit and carrying an AK-47 ran through the University of Texas' Austin campus today and fired randomly before he went into the library and shot himself to death, according to police and a witness. No other injuries were reported, but police evacuated the sprawling campus as they checked reports of a second gunman.


Saved us a lot of funding on trial and sentencing and incarceration.

Have friends working in that library, and some former scouts of mine who live on campus.

they spent most of the morning looking for a second shooter that never came to be. I'm guessing an echo of the shots reported as a second shooter.

This will renew the CHL on campus fight. As it currently stands Texas CHL holders can no carry their weapons into buildings on campus at a state school.

Just like the massacre at the Luby's in Kileen for CHL in Texas, this too will probably be a turning moment for CHL on campus.

I think allowing looser CCL or CHL is a good idea.

from what I've seen, the argument against on-campus carry is that you don't want a bunch of 21-year old drunk college kids with handguns on campus. So in this case, lets cross the street to west campus where a bunch of 21-year old college kids are allowed to have handguns in their apartments. Wait? there's not a rash of drunken students killing each other over there? hmmm...

college campuses should be treated like any other public place. There are laws around how to prevent concealed carry in your place of business. Those should apply here as well.
