I'd just like to wish all the Jewish people here "Tsom Kal" and peace for Yom Kippur.

Isiah 1:11-17

11 "The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?" says the LORD.
"I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;
I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.

12 When you come to appear before me,
who has asked this of you,
this trampling of my courts?

13 Stop bringing meaningless offerings!
Your incense is detestable to me.
New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—
I cannot bear your evil assemblies.

14 Your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts
my soul hates.
They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.

15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I will hide my eyes from you;
even if you offer many prayers,
I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood;

16 wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds
out of my sight!
Stop doing wrong,

17 learn to do right!
Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.
Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

Well at least your not limiting your religious intolorance to Muslims, nice to see you're a all round kind of guy. You do know that Jesus was Jewish right?

Maybe I misunderstood your reson for posting what you did, if so I appologize.
On first reading it looked like a text based dig at the Jewish faith.

I was just listing what I felt was relevant scripture from where the Jewish faith comes from...he who has ears let him hear...though I think it's pretty clear even if you're deaf.

~that doesn't sound like the King James version I was beaten with. Is it yet another mistranslation of several mistranslations?
~who the fuck cares?

Judaism is every bit as much a valued religion as any other religion. If it is false, so is yours.
Yom Kippur is a holy time. How about giving it a rest for those that respect their holy time even if we don't follow their religion?

11To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

12When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

13Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

14Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

15And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

-The point seems the same to me.

Yom Kippur is a holy time.

Yom Kippur is the Day of Attonement and I'm asking where does that attonement come from?

Certainly not from the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

I also find it interesting that:

Quote

Yom Kippur is observed by many secular Jews who may not observe other holidays. Many secular Jews attend synagogue on Yom Kippur—for many secular Jews the High Holidays are the only recurring times of the year in which they attend synagogue,—causing synagogue attendance to soar, and almost two-thirds fast

I merely see the same ole' empty headedness that many weak-minded individuals cover up with what they profess to be "Christian" and "God said."

Honest...God doesn't give a shit about you, your book, or how it's misinterpreted.

Here's another one that I love to misinterpret;
"Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You need never confuse grapevines with thorn bushes or figs with thistles. Different kinds of fruit trees can quickly be identified by examining their fruit. A variety that produces delicious fruit never produces an inedible kind. And a tree producing an inedible kind can't produce what is good. So the trees having the inedible fruit are chopped down and thrown on the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit produced. "Not all who sound religious are really godly people. They may refer to me as 'Lord,' but still won't get to heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven. At the Judgment many will tell me, 'Lord, Lord, we told others about you and used your name to cast out demons and to do many other great miracles.' But I will reply, 'You have never been mine. Go away, for your deeds are evil.' (Matthew 7:15-23)

You are simply out of your depth.

These verses are a call to repentance.

Where else does true atonement come from but the Holy one of Israel?

Who else has died for us but Jesus Christ, the true Messiah, who asked the father to forgive them for they know not what they do?

This is about Atonement and as it stands there is no atonement without the blood of Christ...

So if you don't believe in the messiah, where is this Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement comming from?

Not in my interpretation.

I'm talking about these verses:

Your hands are full of blood;

16 wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds
out of my sight!
Stop doing wrong,

17 learn to do right!
Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed.
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.

btw, Is there a Jew out there that can answer me the question where this atonement comes from if not from the blood of Christ?

What atonement? What is this Yom Kippur all about?

a·tone·ment
[uh-tohn-muhnt]

–noun
1. satisfaction or reparation for a wrong or injury; amends.

A friend at Perris used one of my jump tickets without my knowledge. By way of atonement, she bought breakfast at Annie's. I'm not satisfied. She needs to atone again, this time at Kokoro's.:)

and you call me a false prophet:S

then you quote scripture about which you know nothing:
Quote

"Beware of false teachers who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are wolves and will tear you apart. You can detect them by the way they act

Then you spit in my face:

Honest...I care, and just want an answer to what atonement these Jews who celebrate Yom Kippur are talking about.

It's a simple question, and nobody wants to give the only obvious answer, because they don't believe it an have nowhere else to turn.

Why is there such hostility against the verses I've given that come straight out of their book?

It's not even from the New Testament...you can even go to the hebrew version...same treatment no matter how you interpret it...it's quite clear.

BTW, Happy Yom Kippur!

Thank you!

It was a bitter sweet moment meditating on where the true atonement came from...Christ Jesus, the Son of God...

Where else?

1 The vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

A Rebellious Nation
2 Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!
For the LORD has spoken:
"I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knows his master,
the donkey his owner's manger,
but Israel does not know,
my people do not understand
."

4 Ah, sinful nation,
a people loaded with guilt,
a brood of evildoers,
children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the LORD;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on him.

5 Why should you be beaten anymore?
Why do you persist in rebellion?
Your whole head is injured,
your whole heart afflicted.

6 From the sole of your foot to the top of your head
there is no soundness—
only wounds and welts
and open sores,
not cleansed or bandaged
or soothed with oil.

7 Your country is desolate,
your cities burned with fire;
your fields are being stripped by foreigners
right before you,
laid waste as when overthrown by strangers.

8 The Daughter of Zion is left
like a shelter in a vineyard,
like a hut in a field of melons,
like a city under siege.

9 Unless the LORD Almighty
had left us some survivors,
we would have become like Sodom,
we would have been like Gomorrah.

10 Hear the word of the LORD,
you rulers of Sodom;
listen to the law of our God,
you people of Gomorrah!

11 "The multitude of your sacrifices—
what are they to me?" says the LORD.
"I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals;

They have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.

15 When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I will hide my eyes from you;
even if you offer many prayers,
I will not listen.
Your hands are full of blood;

16 wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds
out of my sight!
Stop doing wrong,

17 learn to do right!
Seek justice,
encourage the oppressed. [a]
Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow.

18 "Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the best from the land;

20 but if you resist and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword."
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

21 See how the faithful city
has become a harlot!
She once was full of justice;
righteousness used to dwell in her—
but now murderers!

22 Your silver has become dross,
your choice wine is diluted with water.

23 Your rulers are rebels,
companions of thieves;
they all love bribes
and chase after gifts.
They do not defend the cause of the fatherless;
the widow's case does not come before them.

24 Therefore the Lord, the LORD Almighty,
the Mighty One of Israel, declares:
"Ah, I will get relief from my foes
and avenge myself on my enemies.

25 I will turn my hand against you;
I will thoroughly purge away your dross
and remove all your impurities.

26 I will restore your judges as in days of old,
your counselors as at the beginning.
Afterward you will be called
the City of Righteousness,
the Faithful City."

27 Zion will be redeemed with justice,
her penitent ones with righteousness.

28 But rebels and sinners will both be broken,
and those who forsake the LORD will perish.

29 "You will be ashamed because of the sacred oaks
in which you have delighted;
you will be disgraced because of the gardens
that you have chosen.

30 You will be like an oak with fading leaves,
like a garden without water.

31 The mighty man will become tinder
and his work a spark;
both will burn together,
with no one to quench the fire."
Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

So whats the difference? Christianity is no different in this respect. As for your earlier post it does not show the origins of Judaism simply one part of a very long story. A lot has happened in the last to thousand years, do you still think that God has turned away from the Jews? If so how does that sit with the fact that the temple is once again under Jewish control? Why is it the Muslims and Jews believe that other faiths can make it to heaven yet Christians think their the only ones that will? (I know what your going to say but the guy who said it was a Jew!)

And when I was growing up, Christmas hardly had anything to do with Christ, but rather Santa Clause and all our precious gifts...It has become a materealistic sham to distract our minds from what it is all about...Christ.

Quote

A lot has happened in the last to thousand years, do you still think that God has turned away from the Jews?

The Jews are God's Chosen People, and though it has been a wild roller coaster of a ride, they will always be His people and He will redeem them...It is no secret that God has a special place in his heart for Jews, specifically the last Jews on Earth before he fufills the prophecy of establishing his earthly Kingdom in Israel.

If it wasn't by the Jews, through the Jews I doubt I would or even could be a believer in the true Messiah.

Jews have been a major influence in my life, specifically one Jewish Rabbi in Clearwater, FL who I'v studied under extensively. He has taught me much about the scriptures and has accepted Christ as the true Messiah promised by God.

Quote

?? The temple was destroyed aproximately 2000 years ago and the animal sacrafices for the atonement of sin have ceased...Could it be because the only sacrafice acceptable to God occured on Mt Calvary/Golgatha once and for all approximately 2000 years ago...As I said, it is clear that God takes no pleasure in the blood of bulls, and lambs and goats.
