jakee 1,596 #26 September 17, 2010 Quote I spoke the language the way the muslim sympathizers see those who are opposed to muslim extremists. They label such people as ignorant rednecks, so I played the expected role for them. You guys fell for it hook, line and sinker, and revealed your bias, therefore validating my very point. Except that we knew what you were putting it on. I know you don't normally talk like that. I'm sure Andy knows you don't normally talk like that. (OK, Amazon I'm not sure about, but she is a special case). Maybe the fact that you think that our responses mean we think that you actually are an ignorant redneck who uses southern dialect because you sometimes criticise muslims only serves to expose your own biased stereotypes of people who call other people on being overly reactionarily anti-muslim*. Unless of course this is a triple bluff, and you don't think that we think that you speak like that. That'd be too confusing though. * And your bias against people who use southern dialect - I'm sure they're not all ignorant rednecksDo you want to have an ideagasm? You know where the game Texas hold'em came from don't you? ...never misunderestimate your opponent....and if ya'll think Bush was really that stupid, I don't know what else to say but, tsk tsk tsk. These are the kings of poker and they got us all. They may talk funny and have a different edumacation system, but they know what they want, and they sure as hell know how to get it. ...and the scariest part is that they couldn't care less what you think about em'Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are... Andy9o8 2 #29 September 17, 2010 Quotethe way the muslim sympathizers see those who are opposed to muslim extremists. They label such people as ignorant rednecks One problem here (inter alia) is in your convenient labels, John. "People opposed to bigotry by any excuse" are vilified as "muslim sympathizers" (how telling that you don't call them "terrorist sympathizers", thus exposing antipathy for the entire religion). "Muslim-hating bigots who use terrorism by Muslims as a convenient excuse to hate all Muslims" are artificially elevated to the noble status of "those who are opposed to muslim extremists". "Bigots who deserve to be outed for what they are" are magically morphed into "ignorant rednecks". Why? To give bigots who are educated and articulate cover to hide behind: "Well, I'm not ignorant trailer trash, so I can't be called a bigot". Well, yes one can. I, for example, am not a "Muslim sympathizer" John. I'm a human being sympathizer; I'm a "target of ethnic bigotry"-sympathizer as much as I'm also a "target of terrorism"-sympathizer. And I'm opposed to Muslim extremists, too. But for me, it's because I'm opposed to all violent extremists, including but not limited to Muslim ones (thus: pasty-faced IRA terrorists, too, for example); whereas the bigots are opposed to Muslim extremists because - first and foremost - they hate Muslims. By the way, much as I appreciate the compliment, you've effectively insulted conservatives by implying that being opposed to ethnic bigotry is a presumably liberal characteristic.
