France Expels Roma, and Ensuing Controversy

BBC Story from 20 Aug

France is taking a lot of heat for this, but I for one think it's a good thing. Many people in the West have no idea how awful the Roma can be, or the filth and squalor they choose to live in. I believe France is dealing with it as humanely as possible.

Funny thing is that Italy did more or less the same thing
but did'nt recieve the same press, but then the Italians
arn't generally known for their libralism.

France is right in it's VOLANTRY explusion of the Roma
a small percentage of them in a city or town can turn it
into a living hell for decent people.

Other countries in Western Europe have done the same thing. I don't understand why the French are getting all this heat lately.

Perhaps France's reputation of liberalism and of being a tolerant haven for migrants is now working against it.

What a suprise, I might have guessed that you'd be a fan of ethnic cleansing.

So, deportation is genocide, now? I think you're getting a bit too emotionally involved, Jamile.

Not all ethnic cleansing is done through genocide, or even murder. There are lots of methods: murder, intimidation, assault, property and business seizure laws, forced wearing of marker symbols, deportation, etc. In this case it's deportation.

Thanks Andy, my point exactly.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

I have to wonder how much of your chronic (which it is) online ethnic bigotry (which it is) is really you, and how much is recreational shit-stirring.

So France is full of Bigots now?

And why did you stop half way, then?

:P

Touchè! I see the other errors - thx for pointing them out :D:SB| - hey - I just skim a lot of this stuff and seldom proofread - it's just too hard on the eyes. And I never spellcheck - I proof as I go. I sometimes miss things in other people's posts, but I seldom overlook my own.

However, I consider myself duly chastised in this case. :$

Yeah, but they are in the process of being deported.
