Rookie120 0 #26 September 9, 2010 QuoteI don't think so at all. The Eastern Apicultural Society promotes healthy beekeeping throughout North America, and that benefits agriculture. Thats nice. But EAS in my world is Essential Air Service. But now that you mention it I say cut your EAS also. QuoteThat means food on children's tables. Why does Rookie hate children? So heartless. Nice stretch but yeah I guess I am a heartless bastard! If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
marks2065 0 #27 September 9, 2010 Quote>No, not always true. I receive no federal assistance and don't want any. Right. But I suspect that there are programs you don't want cut. They might be funding for veteran's hospitals or veteran's assistance programs. They might be military funding, or border fences, or border patrol, or road repair. Everyone has their favorites. >I think any program that does not fall under defense or common >infrastructire should be severely cut or illiminated. You've just proven my point. You want to cut their programs and fund your own. >Also government spending should be locked into a percentage of GDP >with a vote of the people to increase it. Well, I don't think connecting it to the GDP would work; they'd just find a new definition for GDP. (It's not super well defined as it is.) But a balanced budget requirement might work. > Congress should have their raises (or decreases ) based on GDP increase > or decrease. I thought you didn't like socialism. since when is making a congressmens pay based on how well they do socialism? that would be capitalism. Also since their boss does not set thier pay I would say that socialism is how it is run now. They could consider a raise a bonus for a job well done, something the left doesn't seem to understand. As far as governmnet programs go, the military is defense and care for the soldier should be part of defense spending. social programs would receive the bigest hits since the fed gov wasn't supposed to run those anyways. As far as GDP goes, in order to change the percentage or definition the people would have to vote for the changes.
Lucky... 0 #28 September 9, 2010 QuoteQuoteYea, those lazy mother fuckers who live in wheelchairs are just greedy, lazy fucks. Those elders who HELPED MAKE YOUR FUCKING WORLD HAPPEN are really just lazy at 80. Hmmm Pehaps someone could post the difference between Disabilty and Welfare. It gets so old trying to educate you. If you read what I'm responding to it makes sense, when you cherrypick, it becomes your own little world. Welfare, pet projects (earmarks), bailing out the states, and other programs should be greatly reduced or cut completely. I even think soso security should be eliminated as a common fund and set up as a personal fund, that way people that didn't pay in much (like foriegners that work for 4 or 5 years) can't collect more than they paid in. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10029.html So social security is in part, part of SS, so that was my point. As well, he included all social programs, so since he was explicit I can also be general and I was. Now, back to your own little microcosmic world. Lucky... 0 #29 September 9, 2010 QuoteAs far as governmnet programs go, the military is defense and care for the soldier should be part of defense spending. Right, but defense as a whole should be restructured/reduced and that is the point you are avoiding. Quotesocial programs would receive the bigest hits since the fed gov wasn't supposed to run those anyways. Wasn't supposed to????? The fed wasn't supposed to fund a standing military either, based upon your old doctrine. You went from hero to zero when you said that everyone wants other's progs cut, except their own. Then you went on to defend grotesque military spending as wanted., QuoteAs far as GDP goes, in order to change the percentage or definition the people would have to vote for the changes. It's too difficult and massive to do. It comes out as an estimate and is revised months/years later.
billvon 3,111 #30 September 9, 2010 >since when is making a congressmens pay based on how well they do socialism? Saying that the government is in charge of the economy is socialism. If you link their salaries to the state of the economy, that will send the clearest possible message that you want them to be in charge of the economy. Think this stimulus package is large now? Think about how big the stimulus will get if their salaries rely on the economy recovering quickly. >Also since their boss does not set thier pay I would say that socialism is >how it is run now. A socialist does not have their boss set their pay? So if you own your own company, or if you work as an independent contractor, you're a socialist? Odd definition. >As far as governmnet programs go, the military is defense and care for >the soldier should be part of defense spending. Yep, those are the programs you want to fund by "stealing money out of people's wallets" to use a term popular around here. Everyone has their own pet programs. rhaig 0 #44 September 11, 2010 Quote Quote Quote Quote Quote So I'm starting another thread. So there. It's still Bush's fault, Clinton still did it first, and Obama still can't stop any of it. Take that!!! Except Obama will try to spend his way out of debt. And Hoover/McSame would cut taxes out of debt. And some people still don't understand the concept of living within one's income. I saw a commercial today about debt management. the theme was "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging". It was paid for by some government agency. I snickered.-- Rob
