Yea, what do the pro-DP nuts say about speedy exectuions when people are freed after this timeframe?

Several points:

-Props to the new DA for taking the harder road.

-This is another example of why I think there should be no statute of limitations for rape and any felony involving use of deadly force (not threatened, actual use, and not requiring death, just use).

-Not every person set free from prison is Edmond Dantes. Greg Taylor of NC springs to mind as guilty, but convicted based on improper testimony by an unreliable state employee, and so set free and called innocent. He's no more innocent than OJ, but they didn't convict him properly th first time and don't have a chance of doing it now, so Taylor will stay free and cost the NC taxpayers millions.

Don't forget about lying cops in your list of people who infect trials.

No statute of limitations? Basically there already isn't, the clock stops once a person leaves the jurisdiction in most cases anyway, so you want to make one of the most prison-loving countries even moreso by trying 20-30-40 year old cases????? Talk about chance for error.

Wow. I already knew you don't know shit about law enforcement or criminal justice, but this last post is a real doozy. Do you know what statute of limitation is, or what its purpose is, or when the clock stops and starts? From your post, I have to think the answer to all of the above is a resounding "no."

And you would be thinking correctly.

Obviously, the SOL is the amount of time for which a crime can be prosecuted. Many/most/all jurisdictions stop the clock when the def leaves the jurisdiction. So keep talking around teh issue for theatric valuye.

BTW, I attended CC and ASU with pigs and pig wanna-bes; 90% of them were lying fucking garbage. I know plenty of them and tehy lie to defend themself. I'd bet $ to donuts you're a cop, coild be wrong, but you have all the workings of one from what I can see. Yea, they're real gems, most of them. Every blue moon I meet one who's a descent person and wants to help people, ruins my image of cops being all pigs, there are a few gems out there, but very few.

While he was innocent of rape, he wasn't innocent of other crimes. He admitted to stealing multiple cars. This guy was leading a life of crime that would have eventually lead him to imprisonment for a very long time. Likely, by his report of all the car thefts, he would have served some heavy sentencing eventually.

That's some very compelling logic, put them in prison now, so they can serve time for crimes they would have commited if they were free.

I love all the people that claim the government is not to be trusted until it comes to executing and locking people up.

I've heard it time and again. The old, "he would have committed some crime, somewhere, so we'll convict him of being a bad guy." It's very rough justice. It's like 1 step above Salem witch hunts.

But he wasn't convicted of other crimes. While there are people who are generally bad characters we, as a society, cannot allow ourselves to degenerate to the point of punishing people for things we 'know' they did but cannot prove.
It is oft heard that though someone was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, he had done other things for which he deserved to be imprisoned so it is ok. But it is not ok, never has been, and never will be.

Congratulations, there is a bottom to your uber-conservatism. I mean that seriously, it is nice to see that, it's called reason over extremist. That said you are still too far right, but you aren't pegged out.

Since you classify anyone who doesn't agree with you lock-step as being right-wing fascist neo-con, that statement means nothing.

Not at all, just the morons who think having the top tax brkt < 50% is beneficial, but can't show a time in history where we enjoyed sustained benefit from low taxes.

I happen to feel the top tax rate should be <25%. If that is not sufficient to fund the governments programs, then cut the programs until it is sufficient.

How do you feel about the war to oust Saddam Hussein? He didn't have weapons of mass destruction but, but, but, he wasn't a nice guy either.
Should we have invaded Iraq?

Short answer....no.
But then, you are comparing apples to watermelons. A man who is released because he was falsley convicted of rape even though he admitted to stealing some cars is a far cry from someone who is committing genocide.
