I thought he was still busy scrubbing all the 'uhs' and 'ers' out of Obama's books?

Yes, yes, keep pretending the man isn't the best speaker that's sat in The Oval Office since Reagan.

Can you say deja vu? 'Cause you invoked this same breathtakingly silly talking point in another thread just a few days ago.

Anyhow:

Yes, it *was* silly for Obama to say 57 states.

Or maybe "let's talk" about Obama being the President of the Law Review at Harvard Law School and a professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School

Well, his name was on the masthead - still haven't seen anything he actually *wrote* while he was there.

As for the constitutional law thing, he's evidently not so well-versed as you think, since he urged Congress to write legislation to 'strongly respond' to Citizens United.

No, it doesn't. The idea that maing fun of a politician means that you're afraid of how good they really are is absolutely absurd.

Are you willing to admit that you spent years being afraid of, say, Ted Kennedy.

Kennedy was a Senator for decades. Palin was a VP candidate for 6 months, and, more importantly to the discussion, *hasn't* been a VP candidate since '08.

And yet, *still* all this energy is being spent to discredit someone that they swear was never a threat to begin with.

I prefer to support people who are successful at endeavors they take on in life.

I do think it's kind of bullshit how he got his way through WWII, but I guess somebody had to stay home and look good in the training films.

Where is the bullshit in being classified for in country service only due to vision? I've seen nothing to indicate this was a politically driven classification. People (his detractors) like to make fun of him for playing soldier, but that was a need to pay for the war. Also seems as tacky as making fun of FDR as less of a man because he was in a wheel chair.

The irony, of course, is you started the post talking about Clinton, who would be the definition of bullshit for draft dodging were it not for his successor.

On subject, you seem to prefer judging them on technical merit. On that, Obama would be the best speaker. But personally I think effectiveness matters far more, and Reagan and Clinton succeeded there. While it's too early to call, I think Obama's failure to deliver on his beautiful speeches lead to people increasingly taking them less seriously...all hat, no cattle.

I'll admit he wore contacts, but I'm fairly certain anyone of a number of people that wore glasses went overseas.

He certainly wasn't blind.

where did Obama get a phd?

Actually, at one time, the basic law degree was an LLB, or Bachelor of Legal Letters, followed by the LLM, Master of Legal Letters, followed by the LLD, Doctorate of Legal Letters. However, lawyers, being egotistical, decided that if mere physicians could call themselves "doctor" then they should be able to also. So, they changed the LLB to the JD, Juris Doctorate. What a surprise!! Lawyers got big egos. Who knew?:D

Which doesn't mean that she instantly stopped being a high-vis political figure when McCain conceded.

I'm also wondering if you're completely oblivious to modern celebrity culture? People who come second in American Idol are still splashed over a dozen tabloid magazines years later - not really a surprise that a publicity hungry woman who came second in the VP race is still talked about.

Sigh. Since I have to baby-step you through everything... Did you happen to notice what the story was about? It was about a book written about Sarah Palin. A book by (some probably rather strange) people who think she's a role model, not by people out to discredit her because she's a big scary republican.

Rush jumped into the thread saying she scares the hell out of Lucky. You jumped in saying that the left thinks she's a threat because they talk about her so much.

Hence, neither of you seem to understand that a politician can be interesting and fun to talk about without being taken seriously.

Correction - I say that the left must think she's a threat because they're STILL trying to discredit her - and they are.

Chris Matthews stated she would 'be destroyed' if she ran in '12. Late in June, Matthews asked his panel if Palin was 'the most important Republican in the country right now' - the week AFTER stating that views like hers could cause another OKC bombing. The MSM are *still* bringing up quotes from her during the campaign.

I didn't say that you did. Your tireless efforts at misdirection are admirable, but not really constructive.

No I'm not. It's the nature of internet forums that you can be carrying on more than one line of conversation at once. Get to grips with that, and you might start to find this place a little less confusing.

More like pointing out where she discredits herself, a lot of the time. But basically, it's because she's fun to talk about, and she keeps herself in the news. Which makes people keep talking about her, which makes it easy for her to get publicity, which makes people keep talking about her etc. etc. I already pointed out to you that this is how celeb culture works. I don't give a shit about it either but I can recognise the pattern.

Go us one better, mate - how about you show where she's 'self-publicizing' so you can make your point about how she's 'publicity hungry'.

So 'publicity hungry' that she's not making the interview rounds on Larry King, Tonight Show etc etc etc, but hey...she's still just *starving* for that media attention!!

I'm sure you think so. Odd, how someone who's supposedly so discredited gets so many liberal commentators talking about her chances in '12, isn't it?

Any such entity as the 'Sarah Palin Show' on any network is (I believe) a figment of your imagination, and so it's not really my responsibility to magic it up for you, is it?

Dude, it doesn't work like that. You can't just take criticisms that have been made about you and throw them back in any old context. It has to actually fit.

When I said it to you, it was because you were taking two seperate points and pretending that I was using each as support for the other. When you say it here, it's just because you want to get a jab at me and can't think up your own material. And it doesn't fit.

Quote

No, it is my opinion. However, when you seemed to indicate that her not appearing on certain TV was proof that she wasn't self publicising, then it seems logical that her having her own TV show would contradict that.

When you said she wasn't keeping herself in the news, a contract she signed to regularly appear on a news channel would contradict that.
