Could be worse. Until 1980, the Pekin Il high school teams were the Chinks. (We're already in SC, right?)

Chiefs?

"The All Whites?"

Cleveland Indians?

Browns?

Legend has it that the Cleveland Indians were so named to honor Louis Sockalexis, supposedly the first Native American to play professional baseball. Some say the story is true, some say it is not.
Is it racist? That depends on whether one wants it to be.

The Browns are named after their first coach, Paul Brown, who was a former Ohio State football coach.
Not a racist name in any way unless you neglect it's origins.
HAMMER:
Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a
kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the
object we are trying to hit.

Most if not all were named to give honor
The left just dont see it that way

And
cant keep the industry going if one tries to understand
"America will never be destroyed from the outside,
if we falter and lose our freedoms,
it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Seminoles (Florida State), though they did get the blessing from the Seminole tribe after the fact. Would not be surprised because of the success they had in football under Bobby Bowden. It used to be a girls' college.

Hell yes it is. They refused to join the SEC conference when they had the opportunity. Too tough for them. Bunch of sissies.

The NCAA wanted the University of North Carolina at Pembroke to change its name from "The Braves". The student body was up in arms about it. The student body is over 50% Lumbee Indian. Sorry, I meant Lumbee native American.
Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossilbe before they were done.

My personal favorite... Oregon State BEAVERS!

Chuck

Then you have the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

There's a picture somewhere of a female USC fan wearing a shirt that said "I LOVE COCKS". :D

Now all we need is to get Skymama to wear one of those shirts and take a picture! :)
