It's a long read, and an interesting question...So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! JohnRich 4 #2 June 21, 2010 Could this be why he removed the bust of Winston Churchill from the White House, and replaced it with one of Abraham Lincoln? Isn't there room for both? It was during Churchill's second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya's Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President's grandfather. It is an interesting angle to the story. By way of an analogy (as much as I usually try to avoid them), how many proud Texans display portraits of Santa Anna? Probably not many.
JohnRich 4 #4 June 21, 2010 If a Texas governor tried to have Tennessean Davy Crockett removed from the statue in front of the Alamo, there would be a revolt to stop him. Obama has let his personal feelings interfere with the symbolism of our most important ally during WWII, and in the process has offended the British, who are still our most important ally. I call that stupid. George Washington owned slaves. So would it be okay with America if Obama ordered that the Washington Monument be disassembled and removed? I think not. He shouldn't be messing with American history, whether he likes it or not. The White House doesn't belong to him, it belongs to us.

If he didn't remove it, the Obama-haters would even now be mounting a campaign to impeach him because he clearly loves foreigners more than he cares about Americans. See, this is why I try to avoid analogies: their imprecision blurs as much as they focus. Anyhow, the bust was simply on loan for Bush's first term; then it was renewed for his second term. It was not a loan in perpetuity. So Obama was simply being polite. Polite is good, isn't it? By the way, when are you going to return my hedge clippers? Quote By the way, when are you going to return my hedge clippers? Hey, when you loaned them to me, they were completely dull, and I had to invest my own time and money into getting them sharpened so that they would work properly. Therefore, I'm keeping them for another year to get my money's worth out of them. Once they become dull again, I'll return them to you in the same condition in which you loaned them to me, you cheap bum.
