I don't think it's disrespectful at all in the scenario she was deplaning. Think about recent first ladies-- older women just aren't the short wearing type a lot of the times. Michelle Obama is young and in shape... She probably had plenty of time. This is 2010 and I think most people are probably not so offended by shorts and this is the case of a lot of conservatives just looking for something to buzz about. Personally I like the fact that it shows that they are no different from the average family while on vacation. Same thing with movie stars when people expect them to be so upkept every second that they are out in public. I like seeing them with little/no make up out in public every once in a while. It's a reminder that they are normal human beings just like the rest of us! **edited to add-- as much like the rest of us in terms of clothing on vacation.
