Anyone that has traveled near Cinci has seen this thing. It was about 60 feet tall and bright white.

This is quite literally right next to one of our favorite 270ft free standers that gets jumped all the time. I am still trying to figure out how this 61ft statue got struck instead of our tower....or 1 of the two HUGE flag poles nearby, or the high voltage power towers right behind the church...

Another small peice of irony is there is actually a restaurant called the Golden Lamb just a few miles away :P That's all I feel like saying about that, arguments on here about whether God exists or not are slightly less intelligent than a couple preschoolers arguing over who ate the play-dough.

Maybe it fell under that whole graven images clause:)

Ok, does God hate football?[:/]

Or is he just enforcing the 2nd commandment (the one about idols and graven images)?:S

Or is he saying something about this particular church?:o

Or maybe, just maybe, he doesn't bother contolling every last little detail, and just lets nature and random chance do what it will.:)

In any case, he does have a strange sense of humor.;)

To put it in a historical (a few hundred years ago)perspective, church steeples were often the highest structure in any given town, and the most common target of lightning. The locals often were confused why "God" was continually destroying his own house.

Thats what I was alluding to with my Golden Lamb restaurant comment. Spending $300,000 on a statue? yeah...if I were God that would piss me off considering the number of people Cincinnati has living under the bridges. That's just the tip of the iceburg too. The facility is HUGE. We're talking multimillion dollar campus. It looks like a Country Club one would find in the Hamptons as opposed to a church.

Hoo-ray. It deserved to be struck down.

Jesus' instruction to His followers was to preach the gospel to the world.

This type of Christian showmanship aggravates me almost as much as the Westboro Baptist Church.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I think you are understating the comparison still. It's a LOT less intelligent than preschoolers.

Because you can prove that the Play-Doh exists:P

Not even close. You could examine the pre-schoolers poop and easily discern the truth.

BTW, I only ate the blue-doh.

And it is also ironic how the so called intellectually elite will take an inane non-event and run with it, as long as they can concoct some disparaging remarks concerning Christianity. Yep, preschoolers definitely have us beat.

1 Corinthians 3:19
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"

1 Corinthians 3:10-23
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.

Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness";and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...
