Hmm interesting tree indeed:S

Another Day; Another “Family Values” Sex Scandal

By now we should be use to it. Politician runs on “family values” platform. Politician gets elected and tries to implement “family values” into public policy. Politician rants against gays (“They destroy marriage!”), foams at the mouth over marriage (“One man one woman!”), blasting sex (“Society is immoral and we need traditional values!), and really hates sex education in schools (“This will tell kids it’s ok to have sex!). “Family values” politician is soon discovered to be practicing anything but “family values.”
.
The latest episode comes from former Rep. Chip Pickering. This guy was a huge family values politician. For many years he was my congressmen (and you may recognize him from the Borat movie!). This guy would give speech after speech on family values while trotting out his wife and five kids to complete the All-American picture. Sounds good so far right?

THANK GOD HE IS NOT GAY

"When his adultery was discovered he left Congress"

As opposed to when a Dem does it, he sticks around.

Both sides do stupid things.

You get upset because people who claim to be better get caught.

We get upset because your folks don't feel bad about doing it.

Your VP candidate was cheating on his sick wife while running for VP!!!!! So the Dems can't really claim the high ground here.

AND YOUR Presidential candidate..FUCKED AROUND on his wife time after time after time.....

THEN she was one of the VERY FEW wives who stuck by their vows... while he was "luxuriating" in the Hanoi Hilton. Most of the wives of the POW's did not do the same. He repaid her after she had a terrible accident by fucking around again and leaving her for the rich tropy blonde.

Yeah.. great choice for a leader.. but I think it goes to show the usual pattern for most of the family values types....... and reflects quite well how many of them run their own FAMILIES

There are plenty of congresscritters willing to cheat on their spouses (generally wives, but that's probably partly because most congresscritters are men). Read the Newt Gingrich chronicles (married his geometry teacher, divorced her while she had cancer so that he could marry his next girlfriend, cheated on her while he was busy decrying the Clinton-Lewinsky affair, finally divorced her and married that girlfriend.

But, ya know -- they have so many people sucking up to them (fame really does it in America these days) that it probably never really dawns on some of them that it's really not OK, and most of them have a lot more temptation than other folks. And because of their high-profile jobs, they might get caught more publicly.

There are ones apparently don't cheat on their spouses. I don't think anyone ever accused Jimmy Carter of cheating on Rosalynn, and while they're divorcing now, the Gores appear to have been faithful to each other (although there are some rumors, but there will always be).

So a politician cheating is not good, but it's not the end of the world. A politician coming down hard on cheating, while cheating -- now that's a hypocrite. And yeah, just as it's fine to ding Al Gore for his big house, it's just fine to ding a "family values" conservative for cheating.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Ronald Reagan began an affair with then-Nancy Davis while still married to Jane Wyman. Then he divorced her to marry the "other woman". He then became a Republican governor and president.

Bob Dole got a judge to grant him an "emergency divorce" to his wife's total surprise, then he hired a hot model to work in his Kansas senatorial office, despite the fact that she couldn't even type, and eventually moved in with her. He "stuck around" in the Senate, and then became the Republicans' nominee for president.

Newt Gingrich was cheating on his second wife, and then, while visiting her in the hospital where she was recovering from cancer surgery, told her he was divorcing her. He, too, "stuck around" in Congress, going on to become Republican minority whip, and then Speaker of the House.

And claiming that only one party does it... While defending "your" party when they do it is stupid.

I don't think that anyone is saying that only Republicans cheat. Or that only Republicans are wrong when they cheat on their wives.
