On the one hand, it's pretty pitiful that in the most prosperous nation on the planet, people have to resort to desperate (if Darwinesque) means to try to get health care. On the other hand, isn't it great that she had the right tool for the job?

Kathy Myers says she injured the shoulder a month ago while playing with her dogs.

So Myers shot herself on Thursday.

She was released from the hospital a few hours later.

Myers tells WSBT-TV in South Bend, Ind., she has "no suicide wish." She says her life isn't great "right now, but I want to live."

Myers says she wouldn't do it again and now is searching for a specialist who will accept a payment plan she can afford.

The prosecutor's office is going to decide whether Myers will face charges for firing a weapon within city limits.

Ok This is my hometown. If you look up the interview in WNDU she said she could not even lift up her cigarette to smoke. So she has money to buy smokes but no money for health care? She's a dumb ass and gets no sympathy from me.

I cannot get a direct link to the video interview but scroll down to "Top Video" section and you can watch it there. Why didnt she ever go to a family doctor to get looked at before damnding an ER look at her? Family doctor visits don't cost that much.

Besides the point? This dumb ass goes to the ER and since it isn't an emegancy wont do anything. Last time I looked ER's usually dont repair torn shoulders. Someone that believes that shooting themselves will improve their medical condition is in fact a dumbass. Despite what the movies suggest, getting shot in the shoulder isn't a minor inconvenience. And orthopedic surgeons aren't generally in the ER. When I broke my proximal humerus - they put me in a sling and said go see the ortho in a few days after the initial swelling went down.

Altho it's special you come to the rescue of your conservative buddy, the point I was making didn't dispute shooting yourself for generally any reason is stupid, but that conservatives feel that not throwing everything at and for corporations is stupid. This is very utilitarian in a corporate-loving sense.

As for movies, wtf does that have to do with anything? I've attended anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 (201 / 202), I think I get human physiology far more than do you.
