quade 4 #3 May 27, 2010 My god, I thought Ray Stevens was dead! I remember when he was a drugged up hippy singing about streaking. I guess he's working for team Palin now. F'in' sell out. As to the song in question for this thread . . . well, it's about as accurate as any of his songs have ever been which is to say, not very, but the guy seems to know his audience and he's getting bookings at Tea Party conventions. I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to identify with him on a political basis. Do people want to be portrayed as hillbilly buffoons?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
masterrig 1 #4 May 27, 2010 I think, it's just Ray Stevens satire. I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Chuck

Well, neither would I, except like I said, he's making these specifically for the Tea Party & anti-immigration crowd. Check out his web site. It's kinda sad. He used to be sort of funny, but now he's al about slapping a flag on his product and being jingoistic. I hate that bullshit. I've hated it ever since I was a kid and saw ads on TV selling bedsheets during the President's day sales as if the two have anything to do with one another. It's so fucking transparent, yet people swallow it up.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

masterrig 1 #8 May 27, 2010 People who try to inter-mingle 'illegals' and 'legals' as one group, drive me nuts. I think, it's their way of 'protecting' law breakers. Their 'let 'em all in' policy is going to ruin this country. Chuck

And that's fine as long as you are also seeing the things he's included that are not true. Right off the top of my head, undocumented immigrants don't have access to welfare or Medicaid. Hell, LEGAL immigrants don't have access to welfare until after a certain period of time (I think it's five years, but I might be wrong). http://www.migrationinformation.org/feature/display.cfm?ID=45quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

I asked about that... point blank, of the hospital and my insurance company. Doesn't quite seem fair. Chuck

futuredivot 0 #12 May 27, 2010 just because you're in the ER doesn't mean that it's an emergency. When my mom was in the hospital a few months ago a van from a local spanish language church would show up (all four nights I was there) between 10:30 and 11:00 pm with no less than 6 hispanics and drop them off. In no instance did I see any indications of bleeding, acute pain, illness or injury that I would have moved to the front of the line in triage. According to the hospital staff, that was the illegal run because they had to treat and it didn't do any good to report because they weren't getting the money anyway. You are only as strong as the prey you devour

I totally agree with your thinking to a point. If, they're getting free medical help, who knows what else they are getting for free, using false ID.
