Just yesterday, during his ridiculous dog and pony show with the president of Mexico, he proposed that the ban on assault rifles be reinstated.

:o
Well, that's one thing, but if he tries banning RPGs, I'm taking my rage to the streets.

You will look very lonely and foolish if you do

Indeed; without my trusty RPG I'd feel quite naked.

Dude! How did you get the BATF to let you have a "destructive device" of that nature.

I can't even get my sheriff to sign a form 4 because he "doesn't like those kind of guns".

The gun lobby was very vocally anti Obama during the 2008 campaign, foretelling all kinds of horrors that he would impose on gun owners.

So what exactly has Obama done during his term to infringe on the rights of gun owners?

Has he done anything to enhance the rights of gun owners?

Hi John,
I guess the stealthy move by 'Illary to endorse on behalf of the admin. the UNSAT (United Nations Small Arms Treaty) is all smoke and mirrors?? Never mind locally, the boy is thinking "Globally." Supposidlly all this has to go thru Congress and be ratified by a 2/3rds vote blah, blah, blah I know!! Just remember, NAFTA was an "Agreement!!"

BTW, This Sat. 05JUNE10 is the C&E Fayetteville NC Gun Show at the Crown Expo Center, at least for now, we still have "Gun Shows!!" I'll give you a full report!!

...this treaty process is all about restricting the international transfer of small arms to irresponsible end users, like terrorist groups, militias that use child soldiers, or governments that use the weapons to commit terrible human rights abuses.

I dont and there is some clear disagreement as to what the end game is

This U.N. treaty will lead to more gun control in America. "After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms," former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton warns. "The [Obama] administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context. ... They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn't otherwise."

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty opens a back door for the Obama administration to force through gun control regulations. Threats to the Second Amendment are as real today as ever.

it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

Oh, well, if John Bolton said it it must be true, given that he is such an unbiased centrist.

John Robert Bolton (born November 20, 1948) is an American conservative and nationalist political figure who has served in several Republican presidential administrations. He worked as the interim Permanent US Representative to the UN from August 2005 until December 2006 on a recess appointment. He resigned in December 2006 when his recess appointment would have ended because he was unable to gain confirmation from the Senate.

Bolton is currently a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Fox News commentator, and of counsel to the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, in their Washington D.C. office. He is also involved with a broad assortment of other conservative think tanks and policy institutes, including the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), Project for the New American Century (PNAC), Institute of East-West Dynamics, National Rifle Association, US Commission on International Religious Freedom, and the Council for National Policy (CNP). Bolton is often described as a neoconservative, though he personally rejects the term.

Nothing. But you must admit he had campaigned on revoking some current gun rights. And still makes those types of comments.

And he has a long history of opposing gun ownership

FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban

35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.

c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.

Obama sought moderate gun control measures, such as a 2000 bill he cosponsored to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense

OBAMA: Let’s be honest. Mr. Keyes does not believe in common gun control measures like the assault weapons bill. Mr. Keyes does not believe in any limits from what I can tell with respect to the possession of guns, including assault weapons that have only one purpose, to kill people. I think it is a scandal that this president did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

So while he may not have done much as President... He has a history and a voting record against gun ownership.

1. Signed the park carry.
2. Made many new first time gun owners.

In the end, this is the key:

Quote

Q: When you were in the state senate, you talked about licensing and registering gun owners. Would you do that as president?

A: I don’t think that we can get that done.

Source: 2008 Democratic debate in Las Vegas Jan 15, 2008

That just means he does not think he can do it... He has made statements that he WANTS to do it and many other gun controls.
