The old weapon registration vs. confiscation argument

Many have stated that that don’t think that a country requiring weapon registration will lead to government confiscation of those same weapons. Others have argued otherwise.

Here we have a real world example of just such a thing happening.
Gun were listed as prohibited
Owners with special licenses owned and therefore registered those guns
Government unilaterally reclassified the guns as more dangerous
Government (must have) used said registration to locate and “remove” the guns from the owners!
(how else would they know where to go?)

As more articles on this topic start popping up the issue seems to be the initial classification of the guns. Once legal now not legal were maybe not legal under the rules to begin with.
Still, the locations of these weapons are noted and the weapons are being seized but, are they being taken as the owners turn them in? Or is the gov. going and getting them or both?

I don't buy it. I didn't think of Obama at all when I read the OP. First thing that came to mind was a discussion I had the other day with a friend that is getting his FFL. I'm planning on using him for all my mail-order firearms purchases because I know he'll not keep the paperwork around any longer than he's required to.
