Andy9o8 2 #3 May 9, 2010 To this day I regard the Mexican war as one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation. It was an instance of a republic following the bad example of European monarchies, in not considering justice in their desire to acquire additional territory. ... I do not think there was ever a more wicked war… -Ulysses S. Grant, Memoirs We need immigration reform now. -Geronimo

As to the first, go to Grant's Tomb and tell the General that his memoirs are a spittle-laced diatribe. As to the second; well, as you know, you said that in your OP. Stop spittling. How do we know, for a fact, these men actually said those things? So much of our history has been 're-worked'! Well... Grant's memoirs are his own work. He wrote them out in longhand; then they were sent off to the printer, who set them in type. They were published shortly after his death. I don't think Geronimo was literate; but in any event, it was a pun on the OP.
