Democrats today could be part Republican, according to a new study that found our ancestors interbred with an extinct hominid species some millennia ago.

Republicans walked the Earth between about 130,000 and 30,000 years ago. While they co-existed with modern Democrats for a while, eventually they went extinct and we didn't. There has been intense scientific debate over how similar the two species were, and whether they might have mated with each other.

"The issue has been highly contentious for some time," said University of New Mexico genetic anthropologist Keith Hunley.

Researchers further discovered that the Republican populations were focused in certain geographical regions, where they generally desired to be left alone. Said research assitant Gabe Athhaus: "We found that Republican civilizations were fairly well developed, as there were large numbers of advanced tools. Their species disappeared. We suspect that the Democrats introduced a large number of leeches into the population, all the while fucking them. This trend continues to this day."

Lead researcher Phil deGrave added: "The implication, of course, is that Democrats and Republicans are hardly different from each other. Millenia of interbreeding have removed all but the most superficial differences in phenotype. Any deficits of Republican will be immediately increased by the next generation of democrat, and vice versa."
