Gillian Duffy, 65, had challenged him on issues including immigration. As he got into his car, he was still wearing a broadcast microphone and was heard to say "that was a disaster". (.)Y(.) shropshire 0 #3 April 28, 2010 It could be argued in our modern PC world that she is but she was only voicing concerns about immigration, that a lot of people share. It's probably a valid issue that a lot of politicians avoid or sugar coat. As is often the case, Gordons' biggest problem (in this case) is that he was caught. (.)Y(.) You mean, "caught telling the truth" (i.e., that, Yes, she is a bigot.) A cardinal sin for politicians. I've conducted a highly scientific study. Seems that - world-wide! - 83.2% of people who complain about immigrants into their country are bigots. What a surprise.

Skyrad 0 #21 April 30, 2010 Quote There was a story on CBC today on the British election and the immigration question. The story featured a guy named Ahmed complaining about the Lithuanian immigrants. I guess it never crossed your mind that Ahmed might have been born in England as might his father and quite possibily his grandfather. Or are only decendents of Germans, French and Scandinavian immigrants allowed to gripe about immigration in the UK?When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Andrewwhyte 1 #22 April 30, 2010 Actually it was spelled out that Ahmed was born in England to immigrant parents. My point is that people bitching about the newcomers is a permanent feature of society. The Poles and Lithuanians that are "stealing" jobs and social benefits today will likely have children that bitch about the immigrants 25 years from now. When "old stock" Albertans (usually 2-3 generations out of eastern Europe) bitch about the immigrants I tell them if my grandfather had had his way their grandfathers wouldn't have been allowed in (bloody wog Catholics).
