Gawain 0 #1 April 23, 2010 I for one, reject the notion. I do not believe we are the "problem" in this world. Though, I do believe our kid-gloves foreign policy towards those that want to kill us does create a problem for the world. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Yes. > I do not believe we are the "problem" in this world. We're not the biggest problem in the world. Sadly we are one of the problems. > Though, I do believe our kid-gloves foreign policy towards those that >want to kill us does create a problem for the world. I'd say our iron fist policy of killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in the pursuit of political agendas creates a far bigger problem. Talk to any foreigner; ask them if they'd rather have the US be excessively lenient with their political enemines or if they'd rather have the US kill their children. SkyDekker 1,465 #5 April 23, 2010 I don't agree with eithe rof the poll options, so no vote from me. I think the US is in a decline due to its own actions and inactions. I do think that for many Americans it is a tremendous shock to find out they are not invincable.
kallend 2,230 #6 April 23, 2010 Decline from what? The US achieved economic and military dominance in the 20th Century by virtue of being relatively underpopulated but with abundant natural resources, and by virtue of being isolated by vast oceans from the destruction of two world wars. It also benefitted from the immigration of a workforce whose education had been paid for elsewhere. The US now has to import many of its resources (especially OIL), its competitors have recovered from the devastation, and it pisses away vast sums on "defense" compared with any other nation.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
